Amazon Warning!!!

I bought Windows 7 Family Pack (3 user licence) from a seller on Amazon (tvc9uklimited) and despatch was confirmed on 23rd November.
Delivery had not been made by 1st December so I contacted the seller. The seller replied, asking me to give it two more days and to contact them if good still not arrived.
Well, the DVD did arrive today (post mark shows they were only posted yesterday) but it is a fake!
The DVD has no hologram on it, there is no certificate of authenticity and the Product Key consists of on 20 characters (there should be 25).
I thought Amazon would have vetted a seller before allowing them to sell on Amazon, particularly as the seller's name (tvc9uklimited) would imply they are a limited company.
I have sent a message to the seller asking for their address so that I can return the product!!!!???? But, somehow I do not think I will get a reply!! Anyway, I have to do that before submitting a claim to Amazon for my money back.
Here are the seller's details....

As you will see, they are currently not selling anything. I guess they have taken the money and run!
BTW, the postmark looks like BATH AND TAUNTON.
Any ideas, anyone?

Amazon do refund so I am sure I will get money back. But Amazon buyers should be aware that they are limited to five such claims in a lifetime; this will be my first. Failing that, it is a credit card chargeback. S.75 is not applicable, however, as the amount was just under £100.
Trading Standards are coming to collect the disk and will issue me with a letter confirming it is a fake, so that should actually help my claim.
I was really wondering if anyone knows who tvc9uklimited are?0 -
I would also contact Microsoft UK ASAP.
They can be quite understanding and have often exchanged fake copies for real ones where it can be shown you acted in good faith and can provide all details of the retailer where you purchased the suspect items.0 -
Yes, I did contact Microsoft too and they told me to report the fake on their website.
Unfortunately, the website would not allow me to report the fraud because it said the product key was invalid and my post code was invalid! I guess they are not really interested as long as the software cannot be used (and it cannot be used without a valid product key) but why on earth my post code was rejected, I have no idea.0 -

Yeah, unfortunately anyone can stick a limited at the end of their name, but it doesn't always mean they are a limited company. I think it would be preferable to go to your credit card provider and get them to issue a refund if they will, as if Amazon do limit claims to 5, you never know when you will actually need them!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
The payment actually shows as a payment to Amazon so, from my card isuuers point of view, I have to seek repayment from Amazon before they will consider a chargeback.
I am pretty sure Amazon will have to cough up; if they don't, I would then seek a chargeback through my credit card provider anyway.
I think it is actually an offence to imply that you are operating as a limited company when you are not. At least that is what Trading Standards believe.
There are also other offences, but the main one is counterfeit goods. Couterfeit goods that probably cannot even be used; but I have not tried to use them as, who knows, there may be also sorts of nasties on the disk that would enable the fraudsters to steal the contents of my hard drive, my internet traffic and even my identity!0 -
in product areas where there is more likely to be counterfeit goods, it would actually be quite a good idea for amazon to not allow other suppliers to trade on their website
by allowing them to do so, they are in effect 'endorsing' those sellers0 -

It is indeed an offence to trade as a limited company if you aren't one, although plenty of people do so as it enhances their reputation. If they are actually a limited company, they should be displaying their company registration number someone where it can be seen.
Unfortunately, in this case, it probably had the desired effect, and has probably made a lot of money out of not just you, but probably many others as well.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
I don't think anyone will buy from that store again given the 100% negative feedback, but he's probably on his 3rd or 4th since that one.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

Yes SHE? does have 100% negative feedback but there is only one feedback - that being mine! She also not, currently, has got anything for sale (storefront is empty) so, maybe, Amazon are already looking into it?0
