  • I Love being an unfit parent too!!

2 xbox 360s at home, so loadsa electricity being used, but 2 fab teenage sons who are doing brilliantly at school, very respectful to mum and dad, never get into trouble, but god knows how long they spend on their beloved machines each week!!!

Who cares. Its the 21st century for goodness sake! Id rather them be at home in the warm, safe and sound on dark winter nights than out "playing" and getting up to goodness knows what!

My mother's electricity bill dropped by £30 a month when my younger brother moved out to go to uni - he was chronic for putting the TV upstairs on... wandering downstairs to attack the fridge (in that way only teenagers can do)... checking what was on TV downstairs (because it's obviously going to be different - kind of like the cats thinking the weather outside the front and back door might be different)... and then heading upstairs again.
She wondered why her direct debit had mysteriously fallen when he headed off to uni - then put 2 and 2 together!
Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!

Home from school at half-three or four, half an hour for a snack, one and a half or two hours for homework, an hour for supper with the family, half an hour for a bath, that's past midnight already - what age are the children that they aren't in bed by eight or ten?

Oh Kim..but you are far to fusty and traditional. Have you not yet disposed of that antique piece..the dining room table? they are surely superfluous to modern living as one now dines out of a cardboard box on ones lap whilst watching X factor or similar...do keep up:rolleyes:
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I totally agree OP. In our case my son and my OH each have an xbox. And before anyone decides they want to offer their moral opinion about their gaming habits, don't bother. I'm not in the least bit interested in anyone's judgemental twaddle.

Our electricity usage shoots up when they game. The people they play online with tend to game late and can last for hours.

We have a pre-payment meter and the effects of gaming are instantly known. It can add easily add a fiver a week. Since this became apparent, their gaming is restricted somewhat.

I'm sure there will be many people who don't consider this when purchasing, I know we didn't.

If I was drinking for five hours a night and twenty hours over the weekend and on school holidays would you call me an alcoholic? :p

That would depend on what you were drinking and how fast you drank. :D

My neighbour goes out every night but has one pint which lasts him all night literally. I suspect he goes out for the company more than the alcohol.

Thank you that was the point i was making so people knew what to expect on top of the winter bill... there are some humans left..
  • lol chill out people.

There are far more worse things in the world than spending an extra 8p an hour on electricity or a teenager playing a lot of computer games. They are probably on the Xbox 3 hours a night to get away from you lot!

Don't. :D Sometimes it's just not worth running the MSE gauntlet of 'do as I do/would do'. People here are not too good at just taking things at face value, there's always got to be something they can get at.

Easier to just worry about yourself sometimes.
