if you are buying one for xmas i suggest you increase your electric payments
ours have gone up loads in the last 15 months so we got a gadget that shows what is being used,
i sit at home with and it cost about 3p an hour kids arrive the xbox and the telly it uses put it up by another 8p an hour.
i bet you saying its only 8p per hour but work out the hours approx 5 hours a night sometimes over 20 hours on a weekend school holiday etc.
i bet it adds about £15 a month to our electric bill :mad:
i forgot the fact it gets so hot the bedroom becomes warm so they open the !!!!!!! window while the central heating is on

    Turn the heating down or off in their bedrooms! What size of TV do the kids have in their bedrooms to use 8p an hour??

    If you can afford the games in the first place then you can afford the electricity.

    If your children are spending, on average, more than six hours per day playing video games then I think you have a far more serious and a far more important issue to address than your fuel bill.

    I might not have worded it so strongly but for sure my son was allowed to spend the same time with his console as he spent on studying each week. Homework did not count as studying.

    Home from school at half-three or four, half an hour for a snack, one and a half or two hours for homework, an hour for supper with the family, half an hour for a bath, that's past midnight already - what age are the children that they aren't in bed by eight or ten?

    Increase your wordpower: three of these things belong together, one of these phrases does not belong -

    not necessary;
    impolite;
    underhand;
    out of order.

    Answer: underhand - nothing underhanded in the behaviour of the busybodies.

    No we haven't, I didn't remind KimYeovil to schedule in the government recommended one to two hours of physical activity a child needs each day ... :p

    Out of interest have you tried measuring the TV and PS3 separately, it would be useful to see which one uses the most.

    Also depending on your tv turning the brightness down can save some power (not much but it adds up).

    my tv: 32 inch HDTV: 180 watts when on.
    my xbox 360: 175watts
    hour usage: 355watts = around 7-8p

    2 hours every day = 4.80 quid per months, not bad at all i say
