Ebico will give you an actual switching date and ask you to read the meter up to 5 days before that. You then send that reading to Ebico and your old supplier.
When your final bill arrives from the old supplier you need to check they used your reading. When I did this PowerGen made up their own reading and I had paid for some gas twice. I called them (PG) and had an amended bill sent through.

I am in the process of switching to Equigas - received the confirmation email
over a week ago. What I want to know is, do both your old and new suppliers accept a meter reading given by you? OR do they insist on visiting to read the meter themselves? Just curious because it is so awkward arranging form someone to be in during the day.

How much longer do you think it will take to be put on Equigas? I'm getting impatient for those low bills!!!

It could be six to eight weeks for all to go through- They asked for closing readings so mine didn't have to be read - although they are supposed get access every two years at least to check the meter for "safety" reasons.

I am thinking about moving back to powergen from equipower to take advantage of powergens offer on cavity walling and then switch back again. perhaps not ethical but is this a really bad thing to do?
    thanks

Do you have to be an energy customer of Powergen to take advantage of their offer on cavity walling?

My previous supplier done me out of £3.50 by guessing the last readings, even tho I had submitted them.Didn't appeal. Just glad to get rid of them.
The new bill from EBICO was simplicity itself, clear as a bell.

Jim...Southern Electric, of which Equipower is a part, would have a similiar scheme.Tis the law, I think, to offer energy savings/save the planet.

Ken68 is that statement true. I think it's more like EBICO is a virtual provider of Equipower and Equigas and buys its energy and uses the favilities of, mainly, members of the Scottish and Southern Group for that purpose. It's somewhat like Virgin Mobile, which uses T_MObile, having no network of its own. I do not think we should lead anyone to believe that Southern Rlectric has any legal responsibilty for EBICO.
  • Can anyone post the link to the 'Recommend a friend' offer eagleeye is talking about please? I can't find it.
