Ridiculous assertion.
A guy my mate knows used to work in a digestive factory they all come off the same conveyor belt some into branded and some into own-brand packets.
But with regards to meat I would agree.
its not ridiculous at all
There is always someone who has a mate who knows someone who works in a factory that makes branded and unbranded goods to the same recipe:rolleyes:Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
You get what you pay for in life and buying frozen prepacked mince is simply not one of the quality things!0

Then please explain to me why a jar of Sharwoods Mango Chutney has exactly the same ingreidents on the bottle to that of the Asda Own Brand including the % of fruit content.0 -

That's because more than 50% of the recipe is NOT meat!!!!! And 10% is lard._pale_

Yep, the Asda Smart Price Tuna Flakes gave me raging diarheoa for 3 days.
I will stick to non-value meat and fish from now on.
Unless you ate nothing but tuna AND only visited places you know are completely sterile, I cannot see how you know you got gastroenteritis from Smartprice tuna.Tinned stuff is cooked in the tin, it's sterile so remains 'fresh' for long periods.

This thread is absolutely not going to convert me away from my vegetarianism
When I cook with veggiemince, I often bulk it out with about the same amount again of chopped vegetables. Onions, mushrooms, corgette, carrot. I prefer it that way.
Oh, and in my humble opinion, Waitrose own brand are the best baked beans. Better than Heinz.0 -
Oh yuk, I always just buy mince from the butchers a I want to avoid bush tucker horrors like sphincters, scrotums and eyeballs in my spag bol :silenced:0

Because asda looked at the Sharwoods jar and thought "Right, now we know what is in it we can make our own" ?
Just because two items have the same ingredients, it doesn't mean they were made by the same people. Even if the % of fruit content is the same!0 -

So, you are not very good then?0
