Looks like i'm going to have to open my tin after all  just to make sure!!

"Have a look in your wallet: any £20 notes with the image of Edward Elgar on them will not be legal tender after June 30 this year.
This means that shops no longer have to accept the notes, and it is up to banks whether they agree to swap notes after this date.
From July 1 only notes with the image of Adam Smith, the Scottish economist, will be legal tender. These notes first came into circulation in March 2007."

Looks like it's only you and me worried about this Sue..... no-one else seems to have made a comment. Perhaps they don't have £20 notes in their tins?

I'm going to have to open mine as there's a couple of £20 notes in there. I'd hate to find out on the 1st December that I couldn't spend them immediately and would have to take them to a bank to cash in.

So - all you others who might have £20 notes in your pots - check before 1st July otherwise you might have a nasty surprise when you open them.

Thanks for that, Sue and Loopy; I didn't know that at all!

I don't have anything in my pot yet as I just found a pot, need to wash it out and stick the lid down and cut a hole in the top.
I've not seen anythign about that in the news though, it's a bit of a surprise to find out that the notes might not be legal anymore, with barely any warning!

Yes, I was surprised to read that too.... they usually give at least a year's notice...

Saw a notice today too that the Royal Mail 1st and 2nd stamps are going up in April - not sure if it's the beginning or end though. As if they weren't expensive enough as it is: have to cut the Christmas card list a bit more!

    Morning loopychris
Get yourself to Superdrug, they've got an offer on stamps I think it's 5% off a book of stamps, but when the prices go up you don't have to pay the extra as the stamps ahve 1st & 2nd on them but no price :D
