I'm not certain, but I got the impression that it was a one off programme.
Thanks for pointing that out - it's probably just as well as programmes like that only make me hungry anyway! :D
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

I have her original Christmas Book (love the truffles) and have bought the new book but I am disappointed with it. I would only try a couple of the new recipes.

If anybody does want any of the recipes more than happy to help (might be able to persuade the son when home to scan them)
No Matter what you do there will be critics.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I was annoyed that she didn't give the quantities of anything but just said 'grate some butter' or whatever - clearly we are supposed to rush out and buy the book but there is a LOT of repetition from the older Xmas book, in which she said, for examole, that the Creole Xmas cake (which I make every year) was'too rich' to put marzipan and icing on - and there she is this year doing it. I mean I know we need to move with the times, but if you have the older Xmas book it would be a waste of money to buy the new one.
I did like the look of her roast collar of bacon with crackling, but I was in waitrose this pm and was there such a thing as 'collar' ? No there wasn't. Does anyone know if its sometimes called different things ? I find bacon joints very confusing indeed.
But where would we be without St Delia ? aaaaah !
(Can't bear Nigella's wiggling and flirting with the camera - heaven help the cameraman/woman and I once tried her soaked turkey - it was foul and SOOOO much bother - never again !)

<<I used to love her cooking but I like lighter stuff these days. BBC Good Food magazine did a makeover for trifle a few months ago which involved using a mixture of reduced fat marscapone and Greek yogurt sweetened with a little bit of sugar instead of whipped cream. I couldn't go back to using whipped double cream on a trifle after trying that, it was to die for and half the calories. Plus you can make delicious custard without using five (!!!) egg yolks.>>
Maryb, any chance of the recipe, link or even a pm for this please
    Thanks

I don't realy want to buy the new book as I have so many cookbooks I never even open.
I watched the programme on iplayer and realy enjoyed it,made me feel realy festive.Mind you I was lying tucked up in bed with a lemsip as I've got a chest infection.
I don't mind the cream and butter in the recipes I use loads of that anyway.Nothing better than double cream in a lovely soup.I just can't stand any low fat stuff.

I have lots of cookbooks already and rarely buy new ones now as they duplicate so much of what i've already got or know how to do. So I get them from the library, enjoy reading them and copy out the one or two recipes I want to keep. I was going to buy Sarah Raven's Christmas book this year, but having relented & got it from the library, there are only one or two recipes I need (like the cranberry & sloe gin mincemeat which I've made the last two years & really like) so I've copied those out and saved my money.

Do you know I 've never thought of doing that and the library is only on the opposite side of the road to my house, literally 25 paces away.
It's not that I'm stupid I just think I'm so used to looking at the place I never think of what's in there.:rotfl:
I may relent and pay them a visit.

I've just been looking through the new Christmas book and have decided i'm going to do some freeze ahead Christmas baking. Over the weekend 'm going to make Etty's sausage rolls, the famous chocolate torte and vegetarian sausage rolls (found the recipe for the latter on the Delia website).

Then they can all go in the freezer. Takes the pressure off a bit.
