Fenrisulin,
I'm sorry but I think your post is out of order. The OP is distressed enough without reading dodgy news reports from the Daily Hate.
It is not contributing anything to the thread.

Thanks for that - its people like you and Firefox who make MSE a good place to be and people like that who make it not such a nice place! I won't be reading the article - however, the vets know how much I wanted the cat and that there was no way that I could pay and so I doubt the treatment was uncecessary!
It has been a very sad day and I am still in tears about it, trying to take my mind off it but not working at the moment - I guess it takes time.
CPL said they were full but the vets called them on my behalf again and managed to get him a place. CPL will be paying for all of the treatment and I have signed a form which confirms that they will not put him down, they will find him a good home and carry out lots of checks for this and that, sadly, we won't be able to see him again.
Me, my two brothers and my Dad went to say bye to him earlier at the vets - lots of crying from me! He snuggled right in to me for a cuddle bless him.
Thanks for all of your help everyone. I know the outcome is the best for Noah as he will be fixed and hopefully have a lovely new home.

Oh hun - hugs for yu, must have been so very hard to have to leave him.....but at least you know that he won't be put to sleep or in pain. Hope all goes well for him.
Something makes me wonder though - if CPL is happy to pay for all treatment and rehome him somewhere else.. what would be the problem pay for his treatment and give him back to original owners?
Am I missing something here?0 -

Tell me about it! I have been thinking the same thing, as they know he has a happy home here, with his whole family (feline and human!).
I think the reason must be because if they make allowances then they must look in to making allowances for everyone. Also, if they make it practice to pay the vet bill and then give the cat back to the owner, then maybe lots of (dishonest) owners would begin to do that to get the bills paid.
It is such a shame because we could rovide him with a home still. But, the whole situation has made us think about it - we have 5 cats and next year it will just be my Dad at home and so realy we should have been more sensible at the beginning. But then, our hearts obviously rule our heads in this house!Saving for Uni!

You will have to put the 3 ws and dot in before the url.
Maybe you should try reading a different point of view!!!

It isn't the responsibilty of animal shelters to take in pets because owners haven't taken into account the potential vets bills. So may animal shelters get lumbered with pets when the animal has an injury or is poorly. Quite a number of shelters rely on the goodwill of donations and haven't got the pulling power big organisations such as RSPCA have. The smaller animal shelters and CPL also have to pay vets the full cost of treatment. It is not subsidised.0 -
Jesussssssssssssssssssss - what is wrong with some people here?
If a starving cat turns up on someone's doorstep - they are nto supposed to take the creature in, give it a warm place to sleep and something to eat because they may not be able to feed it to the rest of their life?
Get real..... some people on here make me mad....0 -

Stop preaching to the converted and show some compassion. It's a sorry state of affairs when you need to quote yourself because nobody else agrees with your narrow-minded comments.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Well done, sweetheart, you have done the most loving thing you possibly could for your Noah. :A Now get some vouchers and get the other two neutered!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I took an 8 week old kitten on from work as the owner stood on it and fractured it's femur and couldn't afford amputation or pinning. We said we'd regime it to someone who would get it's leg fixed so they signed it over to us and I fixed it's leg and kept it. Doing smashing now0

Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better. I hope he does end up with someone nice.
I will be sorting out insurance, and sorting out the neutering this week - although we will still have to think about the future of the two little ones and whether it would be better of us to give them up.
Thanks for all your help everyone (well, apart from one!).
