6 bottles or Worcester sauce. I cannot imagine why you have that many. Takes me months to use one.

You may be able to make a bean chilli which would last a few days with that budget.

9p noodles and some whoopsie vegetables for a stirfry (you can just about get away with the worcester sauce instead of soy sauce).

More vegetables and a curry sauce. See if you can get some bargain pitta or some reduced price nan.

Beans on toast - again see if you can get a reduced loaf as this can go towards breakfasts as well, or go with the curry.

Do you have anything in the freezer? And flour or other ingredients?

The other thing I used to do when this hit was to go to the coat rack and check evey pocket, thenn do the same with the wardrobe. Amazing how many odd pennies there are to be found. Even 25p helps.

It might be a good idea to sit down now and menu plan and then price up for the period from Saturday until the next pay day? Then you get what you need on Saturday.

thanks for you help dont have a freezer but i did find some smash in a tin in the back of the cuboard and the sell by date is may 09 so should be ok so i have got 2 smart prize pizza (reduced to 20p as date is up today ) some noodles and some cheap vegtables so i can do food till saturaday thanks for your help all that offererd advice

Dried chickpeas and cheap veg like carrots can make a delicious curry. You could make one chickpea and one veg. Blend the chickpeas to form a cheap humous and have with smart price bread for lunch. If you don't like chickpeas you could try making rice and mixing it with the mint sauce - not the tastiest meal I know but it'll keep you going.

This makes me suspect that the OP "sleep shops", like so many others. Next time you go shopping, use a list. Not only does this make sure you don't forget to get anything you need, but also it stops you buying stuff that you already have.

Also, this has got to be the simplest and cheapest recipe for the most wholesome and filling end result – ever. My box of dried peas cost 36p, so each serving cost just 9p!

    PEA SOUP

    Serves 2

    INGREDIENTS

    125g (½ a 250g box) of dried peas
    500ml of water
    Ground pepper to taste

    METHOD

Soak the peas in water according to the instructions.

Put the peas into a saucepan and cover with fresh water. Bring to the boil, then turn down the heat until it is just boiling (simmering).

Put the lid on the saucepan and continue cooking until the peas are soft. Check the liquid level from time to time and top up if it starts to dry out.

If you have a food processor, put the soup in it and blend it to the desired consistency. If you have a hand blender, put it in the soup and blend it to the desired consistency. If you don’t have a food processor or hand blender, use a potato masher, press the soup through a sieve with the back of a spoon, or leave it lumpy.
Season with the pepper. Continue to cook for another couple of minutes

    ADDITIONS & ALTERNATIVES

You can use fresh, frozen or tinned peas. These do not need to be soaked.

You can also make this as Pea & Ham soup, using the leftover cooking water from a boiled bacon joint.

    TIPS

Pea soup can be any consistency from a thin liquid with soft peas floating in it to a thick paste you can stand the spoon up in.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
