  • Fantastic achievement mbaz, you've brought home to me the reality of what so many of us are trying to achieve on this site, myself included. What has struck me is how you turned around that initial dismay at your situation into a positive answer.

And to go over by only a few quid is such a brilliant outcome.

    :beer::beer: :beer: Well done.:j :j :j :j :j :j
It's up to me now and nobody else.
  • Well done mbaz

I bet that chocolate tastes good! You deserve it.

Well I have taken inspiration from this thread and today I stocked up on a few more bits from Asda, including 4p curry sauce (not in a tin, in a glass jar) and I am on my own challenge, to eat what we have in and not go out and buy more ...... but to s t r e t c h the meals out.
I also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like you :p

:p would like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing :o
  • Well done on such an awesome achievement. You have been inspirational :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:T:T:T

i dont belive anybody is that hard up ,, im on benifits with loads of debt and i eat better than that ,,, you must be spending money on other things too,,,,,

So glad to hear you're eating better than the hard working, hard-up thread starter on your benefits.

As you're doing so well, perhaps you'd like to make a donation back to us workers who are keeping you. I paid £364 in National Insurance this month and I have to admit that I'm getting pretty fed up of supporting those who can physically work, but don't.

    Well done mbaz! :j

This thread has really helped me to get a grip on my food spending.

I have followed some very successful tips on here, and one not so successful porridge/bolonase :o

Can anybody suggest a reasonable budget for my family of four?? I spend approx £50.00 but would like to cut this even further. I try and make sure the kids have some fresh fruit and shop at Aldis but just wondered if anybody had any tips.

    OMG!!!!!

has just taken me 1 and 1/2hours to read this whole heart rending story!!
i think it is absolutly amazing and i can not believe how well u have done.

    truly amazing!

in all honesty it kinda takes me back to being a little girl again; when i thought it was a bit of a game and now as an adult realise it was my mothers way of keeping to what was obviously a very tight budget.

the one and only issue i have with the post is the fact that in all the words of support you had that (as usual!!) someone thought it fitting to judge anothers financial issues. is it me thinking or was this website all about helping people who are wanting to deal with debt in a positive way?????

But what ever a persons financial situation is whether it be wages or benefits the fact of the matter still stands whom are we to judge others!!

so all im really trying to say is that what u have done is amazing and u are an inspiration. and it would be nice if people remember what is the whole point of the forums - to help and offer support to others who are wanting to get to grips with debt!!!!!!:T

  • Try broth or soup mix it bulks out just as well as lentils and makes a great soup and I can make one bag last for at least 5 meals and it is only 60p a bag I use value porridge for the kids breakfasts or value museli which is 57p a bag - you can also use this to make museli bars for the kids lunch boxes. American pancakes are good for breakfasts too and you can make them sweet or savoury. 1 pack value streaky bacon - approx 6 rashers - fry 2 rashers and add to pancake mix lovely. 8 Value sausages will make 2 meals if you slice them and make a casserole bulked out with broth mix or try adding them to a value pasta sauce and serve with pasta
