A combi boiler works by condensing so you do have a condensing boiler.
If your radiators have say a temperature drop across them of 12C then your central heating should be no higher than 69C

I have a Glow Worm boiler which is 25 years old and still working perfectly. I set the boiler thermostat to half way (2.5) and the tank thermostat to 50 degrees. For a bath, I increase the boiler temperature to 4 and the tank to 60 degrees. This is normally hot enough with out having to add much cold water0

Yes - if there is a valve it should prevent the hot water from heating above the temperature you've set on the water tank's stat. Time to call a plumber?katrina123 wrote: »thanks.
yeah when i have a bath or just wanna use hot water to wash up, i HAVE TO MIX IN COLD WATER, as its just way toooo hot just using hot water.
is this a sign of things not set up right???
should we NOT need to mix cold water to use hot water???0 -

All new combis (all new boilers) are now condensing ones by law. But there are millions of older non-condensing combis installed. No free lunch, and no free laptop

hi, my hot water has not been working for a week, and plumber came today to fix.
but after 3 hours of putting the switch on, it was only warm.
i called him, he said you need to turn up thermostat.
so annoying as its not my job and im not a plumber.
when plumber was doing job he said to not turn anything on as he could die with electic shock or somthing.
i dont wanna touch these electics.
anyway he says to unscrew this thing under the sink.
this nut.
and inside there is a setting control.
i dont know if he said to pull it out or just turn it.
i found a black level setting, but around it there is no marking for 60degrees or number scale.
all there is is a + sign and - sign.
i have turned the switch to + untill it clicked.
is this too much? what does this click mean?
how do i make sure its at 60degrees?
as the plumber on another occasion said to leave it at 60.
thanks.0 -

Call the plumber back, get him to do the job properly (including any settings/adjustments) and don't pay him any more.
If you haven't already paid him, or can stop the payment, do what you can to prevent him getting the money until he does the job for which he was originally employed to do."Now to trolling as a concept. .... LoL - by that methodology you'll be calling an electrican next to turn the light on and off for you. The thermostat is a user adjustable control. Its not a case of someone elses job. You are the user. You can adjust it to suit your needs. For heath purposes it is recommended that it not be set below 60 even if that does mean you have to top up the bath witha bit of cold.katrina123 wrote: »so annoying as its not my job and im not a plumber.
Where it clicks is the actual temperature.i have turned the switch to + untill it clicked.

There will be a graduated scale around the outside of the control and a mark on the control to line up with the temperature you require just like the HTS 3 you have.how do i make sure its at 60degrees?

Oops naughty! That could potentially lay you open to criminal proceedings but more likely lead to a civil action in the County Court where you would have to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was not due any payment at all. If there were even 10% of the work properly done you would lose. Stopping the payment is not the answer. There is a communications disconnect between the poster and the plumber methinks which needs an amicable discussion to resolve. If you haven't already paid him, or can stop the payment, do what you can to prevent him getting the money until he does the job for which he was originally employed to do.
