Lets face it, its the most expense area of the UK. why are these HA/LA houses being built there at enormous cost to the tax payer.
Sell off these estates to private companies to make decent flats/houses and use those funds to build two or three estates up north where the land is cheaper.
No need for the jobless to be in London.

There is nee for housing for low paid workers though.. I don't think it needs to be within zones 1 and 2, or even three.
on the other hand, elite ghettoism doesn't seem great for social well being either.
I did wonder about parking provision in some reasonably central (zone 2/3) places where non LA residents with stree parking paid metres, and the LA (presumably including ex LA) flats have a large parking area. I don't know whether extra is paid for parking in them, but thought renting them, or turning them in to electric car friendly long term rentable/or metered parking would have been an interesting idea (but probably worng area).0 -
what about people on low incomes? Does London not need care workers, shop workers, order pickers, etc etc? Or should we move all sick people, shops and warehouses up north as well? With Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0

All very well and good but I am sure there is something in the human rights legislation which prevents people being moved to parts of the country where they have no family/no connection/don't want to be .0 -
infact why don't we just seperate London from the rest of the country, like Monaco from France?
Just have it as a rich playboy's paradise full of racing drivers, bankers and hot totty
call it the Principality of London.

You can be Boris but can I be Anstee? I thing the City alone is quite big enough to worry about!0 -
Are you advocating that the poorer parts of the country (i.e. almost everywhere outside of London) subsidise cheap labour for rich Londoners? If rich folk in London want order pickers, shop workers and care workers they should pay a wage that allows those on lower incomes to be fed and housed, they shouldn't sponge off the rest of the country by getting government to pay for exorbitant levels of housing benefit.what about people on low incomes? Does London not need care workers, shop workers, order pickers, etc etc? Or should we move all sick people, shops and warehouses up north as well?"The state is the great fiction by which everybody seeks to live at the expense of everybody else." -- Frederic Bastiat, 1848.0 -

Well said, but I'm afraid this is probably wasted on Horsey! He can't think outside a Daily Mail headline!:D"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
Should there be council housing/HA anywhere?
Let them freeze! Let them starve! Let them agree to be my bodyslave in return for the chance to sleep in a ditch at the end of my garden!
What's wrong with that?
No need for the jobless to be in London? No need for joblessness anywhere! No-one need be unemployed, they just need to lower their expectations... (and the minimum wage needs to be abolished, along with all benefits).0
