Being born and bred I quite agree. Keep Greater London and the home counties for inhabitants, all the taxes from city of London stays in London's pot and isn't divided out amongst the rest of the country. Sounds fair doesn't it?
We can build all the LA and HA we like then
My question is, how do Londoner's eat?
With their mouths, how do you eat?

I assume that this thread was spawned from the one about the Somali fella with two homes and a (reputed) £115k benefit bill?
I certainly think we could have a case for asylum seekers to be based in a specific region where there has been population decline (Australia have something similar to get more points for entry) and stipulate that they can only claim state benefits if they remain in that region, with a time limit of 5 to 10 years?"I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -
All very well and good but I am sure there is something in the human rights legislation which prevents people being moved to parts of the country where they have no family/no connection/don't want to be .
They don't have to move. They can get a job and buy a place like everyone else. Or there is the street.
They only need to move if they want to continue living in a sink estate.
They can buy a house wherever they like. Next to whomever they wish. They only need move if they want a free house.0 -

The Home Counties already own most of the houses in Devon and Cornwall anyway, so they would be kind of included already I guess

do you know what proportion of people living in council/HA properties are unemployed0 -
All immigrants should be sent to the Isle of St Kilda where they can either make it or not - social Darwinism innit? That'll ensure that only the 'best' immigrants can gain entry into the UK. Survivors can then fight each other with granite blocks on live TV for berths on the one sailing to the mainland every 5 to 10 years.0

i was just sent this. It could be a load of rubbish, but seems apt today:
If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labour.
If you cross the Iranian border illegally, you are detained indefinitely.
If you cross the Afghan border illegally, you get shot.
If you cross the Saudi Arabian border illegally, you will be jailed.
If you cross the Chinese border illegally, you may never be heard from again.
If you cross the Venezuelan border illegally, you will be branded a spy and your fate will be sealed.
If you cross the Cuban border illegally, you will be thrown into political prison to rot.
However, if you cross the BRITISH border illegally, you get a job, a driver's licence, a social security card, welfare benefits, food stamps, credit cards, subsidized rent or a loan to buy a new house, free education, free health care, a lobbyist in LONDON, a legal right to criticise and berate not only our Christianity but all of our Western ideals and principals and, in many instances, you can VOTE.
Yes, I know it is so ......... but would someone please tell me why !!!!!!!
