infact why don't we just seperate London from the rest of the country, like Monaco from France?

Just have it as a rich playboy's paradise full of racing drivers, bankers and hot totty ;)

call it the Principality of London.

    bagsy I'm Mayor.

I thought it already was? Haven't you been reading/watching the news? The bankers are all getting their bonuses/quaffing their champagne & caviar, whilst going off to lap dancing clubs etc.

Rest of the country continues to await the discovery of electricity, heating & the written word.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Are you advocating that the poorer parts of the country (i.e. almost everywhere outside of London) subsidise cheap labour for rich Londoners? If rich folk in London want order pickers, shop workers and care workers they should pay a wage that allows those on lower incomes to be fed and housed, they shouldn't sponge off the rest of the country by getting government to pay for exorbitant levels of housing benefit.
    Absolutely right.

In the short term, I'd shift subsidy from housing relief to public transport, to allow people on low incomes to retain jobs with affordable commuting.

This would also bolster the development of increased rail capacity into London.

Should there be council housing/HA anywhere?
Let them freeze! Let them starve! Let them agree to be my bodyslave in return for the chance to sleep in a ditch at the end of my garden!
    What's wrong with that?
No need for the jobless to be in London? No need for joblessness anywhere! No-one need be unemployed, they just need to lower their expectations... (and the minimum wage needs to be abolished, along with all benefits).

I was about to respond to all this, but then read your posting history & had a right giggle at the contents! So you have been repreived a jelly bashing!:D

In response to the OP, we don't need fascist scum either, but we appear to have them. At least we can tax the living daylights out of them though, so thats good. We can use their taxes to fund some single mum asylum seekers heroin habit or something...

If the rich folk in London pay more for their order pickers, shop workers and care workers ,then that would create a market resulting in more order pickers, shop workers and care workers going to London which would in turn drive down the pay rates for order pickers, shop workers and care workers due to over supply.

TBF, it is an interesting question (not so long ago discussed) for the very central zones in londn, where horrific poverty and embarrasing welth sit side by side, yet in two different worlds,) why the very central property (over both such a huge geographical area compared to the more prosperous residential areas in other cities) could potentially raise a lot of money...and be replaced in a cheaper commutable area of London.

People have this weird thought that London subsidises the rest of the country.

My question is, how do Londoner's eat?

I assume they put food in their mouth, & chew until it is safe to swallow & digest.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable & helpful will be along shortly to confirm or deny this...
