Hiya Butti, (I think of chips when i see your name sorreeeeeee) I must admit, i feel like a bit of a skinflint. I know she will have bought me a expensive present, ive been down the root of, just spend so much on each other ect but its a waste of time. So i have decied to to do what i want and let her waste her money ( says her who is money savvy now ), Hence im feeling a bit iffy about it. i know she will like it as we love to spend time together and we always getting into scrapes and taking photo's. Its just me i guess with the home made cheap thought in my head.

I think your pressie sounds lovely! I have made similar pressies for people and they have always loved it because it's not the sort of thing they would ever get round to doing for themselves.

I wouldn't worry about her spending a lot on your present. Some people just like buying pressies - I have occasionally spent more than usual on someone's present because I saw something I knew they would love and I wanted to surprise them. Some people also have a compulsion to spend a lot. My aunt is £30k in debt, but still buys expensive presents for people who don't even like her. She equates buying expensive pressies with her sense of self-worth alas.

Hiya Hermia, thanks for popping in. My friend is like that, although she is not in debt. Presents have to be exspensive and she is always wanting to pay for things. this make me feel bad, as i cannot always pay and I refuse to go out or do anything because I am short of cash, she always offers to pay "her treat". Ive tried to explain this makes me feel like the poor relation buts she just says "dont be silly" that doesnt matter to me but is does not make me feel any better.

latte' update my friend paid for latte's today, we had a stressfull time, came out of mams and had a flat tyre, she nothing in her car to sort it, so we had to flutter our female eye lashes and inlist some male help. Told you we always manage to get in to a scrape one way or another.

I have not wasted any money this week. £30 left of mams loan still intact. 1 day left to payday :j:j:j. Cant wait to get sorted.

Council tax DD returned unpaid this month and was going to ring them tomorrow and pay it via my debit card but they sent me a nice letter this morning saying that they were going to spread the cost over the final payments, and my payments have dropped by £30 a month, so arrears must be well down. So I was very pleased about that. So that £145 i was going to pay them, i will now pay off my rent arrears and thats that up to date too :j:j:j. by my sums !!!! I should be debt free and up to date with everything by September next year. :j:j:j.

I am sooooo going to do this.

It's sounding great so far. You know, I think we've all been counting those days to payday with you! Agree with you about presents. I've spent far too much on presents in the past and now I spend less, I just put more thought into what I buy or I make something. I've put this on another thread previously, but last Easter, I kept looking at all these ultra expensive posh Easter eggs in Waitrose and thinking 'Ooooh, hope I get one of those' and when Easter Day came along, do you know what present meant the most to me? My little nephew (6) had made a box himself from some cardboard, filled it with compost & sown some salad seedlings because he knows I like gardening. He carried it in and handed it over so carefully and I brought them home, planted them out and picked leaves from them all summer. In terms of cost, we're talking pence, but I loved the thought & effort he'd put in to it. Husband & me decided to have a 'money summit' in the New Year to see what we can do to get last loan paid off. Am looking forward to it. I wouldn't have said that a few years ago!!!

Foxgloves, that is so sweet of him and you are compleletly right of course. its stupid of us realy isnt it, making it a money thing. Well I am not doing it anymore. From the heart from now on.

Little Vics and Gem68 Hiya and thankyou for popping in and reading all the way through. My new found friends have been Fabulous and so supportive. Ionly hope I can give such Fabulous support to others.

    :jPay Day Tomorrow :j

Have my to do list all ready.

1 Online banking and transfer money to different bank accounts.
2 Transfer housekeeping £150 to last 28 days, to my empty halifax account. Food for two adults and my spends.
    3. Due to nice council tax lady, clear my rent arrears.
My goal is to think twice or three times before I spend housekeeping, and not to dip into my current account.

So looking forward to tomorrow, so that i can feel what its like to be in control. I will be counting down my 28 days and posting my highs and lows and housekeeping totals.

Well its of to work for me.

Congratulations boo, you are doing so well.
I need to start doing this myself.. I am not ridicously in debt.. but for the first time in my life I am, I am 25 now, I used to be really tight as I grew up in a very poor family, but since I moved to the Uk and got my 1 credit card... and my relationship with OH started going bad... everytime he fights with me, I buy myself something to make me feel better and get back at him.. or i get the feeling.. ohh i never had leather bags, o jacket.. or whatever that seems so common to have, many things i never had before when growing up. This has got to stop, i need to be in control and spend carefully, i want to be debt free and in my case, if i am tight wont take long, maybe in march next year.. but i know if i don't stop now.. my debts will grow and won't be easy to control them.
Thank you again, you are an inspiration.
