Everytime you are in trouble over unpaid bills, it worries you, you may feel sick, have a knot in your tummy, a burning feeling in your eyes, a feeling of this time I've had it. Then you get out of it somehow the bill is paid end of problem, a feeling of relief, wow it feels good, so you unconciously repeat the process.

O you are soooooo right, that is me too a T. So do i get a kick out of being in a pickle and getting myself out off it !!!!!! but i never get right out of it as the debt is always there, just when i have cash, in my eyes thats it im ok now. Stupid girl that i am no WAS.

    Thankyou

£70 - £40 still intact. I have my shopping for the week, but will need fresh bread and milk. The three of us did go for a coffee but it was treat for my brother, as we always do and he would find it hard to understand why we were not going, but im not beating myself up about it. If that the only latte' I have this week that will be fab. Have petrol in the car, that will last till payday and DH has his PM. So i am going to put £10 on my wekly spend challenge thread, that is for everything i may need to pick up during the week, food and My spends. So £30 of mams loan "should" be intact come friday

    Hello Bloo,
Haven't read ALL the thread as I am at work typing in my lunch half-hour, so I don't know whether these things have been said.

I don't know you so I will tell you a little of how my head works (and hope it doesn't give you a headache!)

Shopping gave me a little adrenaline buzz in my life and 'rewarded' me, for what I'm not quite sure.
Overspending and running out of money was in some respects quite exciting. Gave me a buzz in a slightly terrifying way.
Overspending I think was also a way to try and get a parent, in my case my father, to indicate their love for me and to rescue me. It's only taken me 42 years to realise he is pretty much a hopeless case, won't change and just likes to criticize.
I think not managing your money is a kind of rebelling exercise against getting older and becoming responsible.

One useful book I read which has been out 5 years so should be in the library is one by Benjamin Fry which is rather nicely titled 'What's wrong with you'.

I now try to get my buzz out of exercise and doing things for others, like typing on here.

Sometimes the exercise in changing your behaviour feels like turning a supertanker round, but the important thing is to start.

Well done on the sensible spending and good luck with the £10 budget for the week. Hope you can have a 'one latte week' too ;)

    Hi BJ,
Of course i'm praising you, wouldn't dare to kick the other! And yes I've been out of debt for over two years now. I worried so much about paying it off I could feel my heart contracting (?). I wondered if that is in part what caused my heart problems which became apparent around the same time. So don't worry whatever you do!.
I so love it here (dfw) that I haven't moved away! I make the occasional sortie over to old style but feel at home here.

Hiya Butti thankyou for popping in and having a read. i have spent years trying to analyze myself to no avail. All i know is my mam wasnt very good with money either. I will try and have a look for that book. I will have a look in the library and see if i can borrow it. I cant even say i get a buz out of over spending or over eating i just have this ned to do them ?

I do not get a buzz out of anything in life. And I do not do excited either. Im a strange sort of person, not many feelings of anything realy. More of my odd behaviour and feelings will come out no doubt through this thread

    Thankyou for reading
