Plenty of online stores don't have huge call centres and answer emails and calls straight away. It is not the case of online vs high street it is a case of big store vs little store.

If for example Tesco give you better customer service in their stores than they do online (which in my experience is very true!) then that is a fault with Tesco not all online retailers. There are plenty of small, independent retailers who trade online and provide fantastic service!
