The number of rooms depends on the age of the children and the genders. If there are 5 boys and 3 girls then 4 of the boys can share = 2 rooms. 2 of the girls will share = 1 room and the 2 remaining children ( 1 boy and 1 girl) if over a certain age require separate rooms.
I agree though if they have separated the children anyway i.e 1 is living with the dad in a council house then why not put a few more of the children with the dad and put the rest of the family in another council house. They may be a bit closer together then as well.
Except if they owned their own house it wouldn't work like that would it, you have to make do. There was a couple on TV last week "How Not To Decorate". They had 6 boys and them and had a 3-bed terraced house.

Also, under "the rules", living rooms, beyond the first one, are counted as bedrooms. They don't count houses as "X beds" but number of rooms. This one has 3 living rooms, so they would count as 2 bedrooms.

Westminster Coun cil appears to have housed this family and is paying for them.
Westminster council is Tory controlled. Why is everyone blaming labour for this?

you might as well. any other vote is just a complete waste, and if you are considering voting labour in again - god, it just doesn't bear thinking about.

I could never vote for Brown while he keeps doing that funny thing with his mouth, makes him look a bit strange. Also the fact that he doesn't seem to have a clue what is going on may influence my decision.

I grew up in a 3 bed with 7 of us and I'm not dead through it, bloody stupidity saying just cos they have more kids they get a massive house! I'm sure mum and dad would have loved a 4 bed but there were none available. And the "better off on benefits thing" is true. Dad was told more than once when I was growing up that it was better for him and the family for him to stay on benefits or he'd be worse off (rent, CTB, JSA for us 5 and mum, free scripts, free school meals etc) than trying to pay for all of that out of a low wage job.

I do it all because I'm scared.

Is it any more ridiculous than the HB system there before?

Also, the reason Tory-controlled Westminster have no housing available for large Somali families - or anyone else, including deserving hard-working Brits, is because they SOLD it all, to gerrymander votes, back in the 80's.

Fact. It's not pretty, but it is true.

I just cannot understand why this government is intent on setting up a whole swathe of society where working is for mugs. Unless they see their voters there.

If the area does not have the infrastucture to support these people, they should be moved where housing is cheaper. Just like normal working, house buying people have to do. I know someone who mover to Luton so they could afford a bigger house. thats what I call sacrifice.
  • when my parents sold their house, to downsize to a flat, i was considering buying it, and renting it to the council. However, the council wanted so much work done to it re heating systems, new wiring, new windows etc etc that i told them to f**k off. Unbelieveable, we lived in that house for 30 years, and kept it well but - BUT, it wasn't good enough for a load of HA/LA scumbags to live in??? They should be told "live here, or live on the street".
