No I don't think this is right but nor is it typical of most people's experiences of being poor.
Ask yourself why these stories are appearing in the press? The Tory Press is trying to whip people into a frenzy of hate to get their vote. Posters on this thread are acting like a pack of dogs, so it obviously works.A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

Well, I am definitely a Leftie, but I support the principle of rewarding effort (although not with vast and unnecessary wealth) and intelligence and also education that is tailored to a childs needs/intellect/gifts. Thus I am firmly in support of a Grammar School type system. What I will never approve of is an education system that guarantees the best teachers and best facilities being wasted on the basis of them going to those that can best AFFORD them regardless of whether they are a genius or a half-wit:D
Nothing wrong in selection if it is made for better reasons than that daddy has a large bank balance:D"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
The number of rooms depends on the age of the children and the genders. If there are 5 boys and 3 girls then 4 of the boys can share = 2 rooms. 2 of the girls will share = 1 room and the 2 remaining children ( 1 boy and 1 girl) if over a certain age require separate rooms.
I agree though if they have separated the children anyway i.e 1 is living with the dad in a council house then why not put a few more of the children with the dad and put the rest of the family in another council house. They may be a bit closer together then as well.I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.

Ask yourself if these stories weren't reported in the press, how many more cases like this would occur?
I couldn't give a monkey's chuff about the politics, I just want our taxes to be spent wisely and in this case I doubt even you could argue that they are."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. The reason these stories appear in the press is because it is wrong, unfair, and an issult to anyone who tries to pay their way and has taxes taken off them to pay for something like this.0 -
Nonsense, The Sun is a tory rag, I don't buy it. The story is in there, no getting away from it this has happened people are not happy about itBACKFRMTHEEDGE wrote: »No I don't think this is right but nor is it typical of most people's experiences of being poor.

It wouldn't tempt me to vote for Camerons lot though.
If people are swayed that easily maybe they shouldn't have the vote.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -

exactly, because they are a good idea. heaven forbid that those who are intelligent are given a proper education. the leftie way is always to bring everyone down to the lowest common denominator rather than bring some up.0 -
Wow, a 2 troll-thread, both on opposite sides of the political fence.
Shall we sit back and watch them fight it out?
Go on, you two, we're watching....0 -

you might as well. any other vote is just a complete waste, and if you are considering voting labour in again - god, it just doesn't bear thinking about.0
