  • at the end of the day, the state doesn't owe anyone anywhere to live.

You live where you can afford, and if you can't afford anywhere - tough.

the fact the state does its bit is fair enough, but no one should have more that a one bedroom flat off the state. If you can't afford that, then you can't afford to have kids.

and that is not stopping people having as many kids as they want. they can have 45 for all i care, provided they live in the one bedroom flat and get no extra benefits for the kids.

I believe Labour set up the rediculous LHA system.

There is always room for common sense intepretation
The only thing that is constant is change.

To reform the LHA "fairly", they should look at:
    - number of people/kids
    - sharing a room up to age 21
    - measure the bedrooms for square footage
    - a cap for normality

I bet some of those bedrooms in that house could easily accommodate 4 kids, they're probably 16'x16' and more.... making one of those the same as four 8'x8' rooms. And an 8'x'8' room is quite often a master bedroom in a new build if you're buying it yourself.

If the area does not have the infrastucture to support these people, they should be moved where housing is cheaper. Just like normal working, house buying people have to do. I know someone who mover to Luton so they could afford a bigger house. thats what I call sacrifice.

I agree - but Luton's not that bad.

    Handy for shopping.

OK..it's never very posh. But there are worse things. Handy for Primark.

I cannot see that it is right for the state to support anybodies desire to have eight children, let alone encourage it.

I'm still interestie to know the wider picture..of what the family's entire income would be...to make a comparison on more than housing. I do hope someone knows!

I would be very surprised if it is less than £110,000pa tax free( inc housing). Equivalent to a salary of around £150,000. Think I am going to give up, sign on, see how many kids I can arrange to have and laugh at all those morons going to work every day.
