  • Hi everyone - didn't post yesterday but it was a NSD and hoping that today will be too.;)

Dinner last night was a Chicken and mushroom casserole that I cobbled together with some ingredients from the Freezer freeing up some more space, getting there slowly but surely. Tonight's dinner will be some HM meatballs using mince from the freezer and I'll serve it with some HM tomato sauce that was made in a batch some time ago and stored in the Freezer, and serve it with some pasta.;)

Shall rearrange what's left in the Freezers, update my meal plan and start to plan what I'm going to buy for Xmas to refill Freezer.:D

Hope you all have a good day.;)

My missing Mr S shop finally showed up on the tinternet banking so have adjusted sig accordingly.

Have had 3 NSD this week but will have to go to Mr S for some £1 1% milk as soon as I get off here as there is not a drop left and I cannot function on just one cup of tea in the morning. I will also need to get some fruit as DH has taken the last of it to work this morning and also some cheese, veggie sausages and baked beans. That should do us until next weekend.

There is only £45 left in the budget and I still need the turkey crown (small) and gammon joint for Christmas

Defrosted a bag of quorn pieces last night to make sweet and sour but was so tired (was asleep by 8.30) I stuck two frozen pizzas in instead. Will have to be sweet and sour tonight or something to use up the quorn.

WOW fabforty!!!! That would be most impressive!! GO FOR IT!!!!

Good morning! I am AGAIN not having a NSD... Having dinner with a friend, but have a good voucher to use. The meal should cost under £5, so I'm not too worried (one has to expect these things at Christmas time!).
I did our weekly shop last night, it cost less than £8!!! This is mostly due to family feeding us for 4 nights out of 7 and me going out for 2 meals. But this STILL works out much cheaper (with the vouchers) than buying a week's normal shopping.
    Sorry for the ramble.... :o

Spent £33 in Mr T, mostly fruit and veg and a couple of extra basics. Will be nsd's until next week, as DS has been quaratined with scarlet fever, he's ok but really unhappy bless him. I feel exhausted from the lack of sleep, so easy teas involving pasta this week, which hopefully will keep the budget down. Hope everyone is doing well :)

Argh! I am incapable of NSDs- I've only had 3 this month :( I've already spent £177.12 - ok, that's just over a 1/3rd of the budget for a 1/3rd of the month (and includes bday items of £7.14, Xmas £5.49 and medicine £2.39) BUT I so wanted to come way under budget this month. I MUST try harder now - we have full stores of food and must eat it and not buy more! (I can't resist whoopsies/ BOGOFs/ special offers (where I normally would buy the goods) etc - I bought 4 bottles of Persil's small & mighty today, cos I could get them for £1.50 each and 4 packs of pampers baby wipes, cos I could get them for 50p each... I don't need either of those items for a couple of months at least!)

I am cross with myself - not overly so - I could still come way under if I rein it right in now, I guess - time to mealplan for the rest of the month (I tend to do it for max a week at a time) and see how we go from there.... DD's bday tomorrow - so I think we might have a takeaway for tea. We have friends round for dinner on Sat, but I'm 99% sure I've got everything in for that, so that's ok!

The spends on bread/ milk/ f&v alone are horrendous, though - I spent £6.50 on bread & milk today - and we'll need more come Sunday!

Ho hum!! (or maybe it should be a more festive 'ho ho ho'?!)

    Afternoon all!

Been to Morries to grab their #4 meal deal, and then onto Mr T's for some more bits, including special offer beef, reduced gammon and other meat and some wine for Chrimbo (just in case the hm stuff poisons me!), got some more pressie bits, but will leave that in total as easier for me! So spent #63.24, will update sig now!

Went to Mr S as planned and spent £20.24, £2.50 on saus/bacon thingys for Christmas dinner and the rest on fruit, 2 big things of 1% milk, some quorn sausge rolls and sausages and 8 tins of H3inz baked beans which were 2 packs of 4 for £3 or £1.74 for four for own brand so thought I would stock up. Also sneaked a couple of choc croisants into the basket:o That's what you get for running out of milk and not having breakfst before you go.

Quorn sweet and sour for tea as planned and made some cornflake cakes for pudding:p

Sig all updated and a scary amount left. Nothing needed now until Christmas week and not much then really. May be a little bit over by the end of the month but happy with what I have spent as it includes everything for Christmas.

Despite working in a Mr M store I missed out on the £4 meal deal

I saw it when I got my morning break, but we're not allowed to shop during 15 min breaks. By the time I got my lunch break it had all gone (or, rather, the trifles had - which meant the rest would have scanned at full price). My only hope is that they get more in tomorrow and/or Saturday and they have a full set left when I get my lunch break !!

As an aside, was chatting to the bakery manager (my boss) today. We had a customer come and ask if we sell fresh breadcrumbs, which we don't. So he emptied the tray from the slicing machine into a bag and asked if those were any good for her - and they were gratefully accepted.

I then mentioned I'd never heard of getting crumbs from a supermarket bakery before, but that I'd heard Mr A give away small quantities of fresh yeast if asked...... and was told that so do Mr M, though it's not advertised (and limited to 40g per request). Thought this might be useful to someone, and I plan to try it when I eventually get a moring off (possibly not until after Christmas or even New Year!!!!)
