Good morning, how are you all?
It is a rather grey day here, but there is lots to do and being British (Irish really) the weather is'nt going to stop me.
It is vulgar to talk about money, but what is a nice person to do when attending a thread on moneysavingexpert? What a dilemma, where is Katie Boyle when you need her?
Well I shall take the bull by the horns and simply tell you. Mr Spirit has just (yesterday) been paid a bonus - it is a 60% more than last year. It is not an obscene sum, but significant to us,he does'nt work in the city but for a charity.
We shall pay this straight of our debts as we do have some, a legacy from a time when the economy was booming but his then business collapsed following 9/11. We could not stop our outgoings quickly enough and incurred debts which we are paying down rapidly now.
Weather - tick
Nice people - Katie Boyle - tick (could not get Joanna Lumley or Nigel Havers in) Oooh just did, tick tick
City bonuses - tick
Paying down debt - tick
Terrible event beyond our control impacting on job losses - tick
Mention of regular 'popular posters' in an ingratiating way....Mmmm tricky.
Mr spirit and I are having a fantasy dinner party and would be delighted if Pastures New, Single Sue, Lostinrates, wageslave, cleaver,Fc and generali were able to attend. It would be loley if you could all come, we are so looking forward to meeting you.
Sadly I am are unableto invite everyone to this fantasy on this occassion.

Ticked all of the boxes.
Bunny rabbit appears to be doing well this mrning and we will get a vet to check it over. I just knew you would all want to know.
Niceness maintained for today me thinks.
Thanks for the invite, I'd be delighted to attend.
I'll bring a (virtual) bottle of 1971 Penfold's Grange Hermitage and a (virtual) bunch of dendrobium.
Let me know if you'd like me to bring a pudding or starter to help you out.0 -
Well done on the weight loss TomTerm!
Thank you.Brilliant! Well done you!!!!
How did you do it?lostinrates wrote: »Tomterm seriously impressive, how DID you you it?
I really don't think there are many secrets to it. If you look over the period I did it in, it's not that impressive really. 6 stones a month over 18 months is only 1/3 of a stone a month. If you watch shows like the biggest loser, or those horrible McKeith shows, most people can lose over a stone a month, with discipline. Frankly, at 1/3 of a stone a month, most people around me don't notice the weight loss, because it creaps up on them. They only notice if they haven't seen me for some time.
I think most people fail diets because they are over ambitious and try to lose weight too quickly. My only aim is to either maintain my weight or lose a little bit of weight. If I notice my weight creaping up, I increase my exercise or decrease what I eat. But I don't try to force myself into losing weight quickly.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Wow, so excited this thread is till going and people are still being nice to each other a full 2 days later!
I know I'm not invited, but would it be rude to gatecrash a dinner party, if I bring some chocolate for dessert?
Lovely to have your company, Spirit.
I trust the bunny is doing well?0 -
Spirit, be careful who you invite.
We may just turn up:cool:Retail is the only therapy that works0 -
Lydia's comments on sigs makes me contemplate one myself - I have had such a wealth of personal comments/insults aimed my way, I wouldn't know where to start... :rolleyes:0

I'm at work ( I have 2 jobs, so tend to work unusual hours!)
However I am looking forward to baking fruity scones with one of my friends 2 year old tomorrow. He loves any kind of baking.
I've been planning my week ahead. I have a bit of an OCD type thing with how I plan. Mainly due to an awful memory.
Anyhoo, my niceness is visiting on a weekend - rare one for me.
Joke, hmmm,
Went into my garden this morning & found a parrot. All it can say is "good morning, you ugly !!!!!!". Is it yours?:D
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
