1987 was a bad year for weather, the big hurricane was that year too.0

Ah the big snow of the early 60`s. Remember it well. Was getting over flu and kept playing " Moscow Nights " by Kenny Ball, lol. Mad though it is, can`t remember what i did yesterday but I do remember that egg on toast even today that my Mum cooked for me for breakfast when I fancied something to eat. I still recall how there were still frozen heaps of ice, where the snow had been shovelled lasting into May.
" Moscow Nights ", how funny but it was something that turned me onto jazz and for many years not only have I enjoyed it but have been blessed with the gift of playing the similar, um not not that style but more like this. Well not that well, lol.

If you care to watch it it was composed by a guy called Bobbie Timmons, an album I bought around 1963, mind blowing. Then at 16 I went to see Jimmy Smith at the Hammersmith Odeon, hang outside the stage door and got to meet him.
Ask my long suffering wife regarding keyboards in our house. 2 work stations, a synth from the 80`s and a 2 manual feller quite similar to the one on the video. I am still doing the odd live performance.0 -
T`was the early 80`s. Went down on business to the South West. Got as far as Exeter and the snow was so bad I decided enough was enough. On the start of the M5 there was a motel at Kenfig. Booked in for the night. Later even the lobby floor had people bedding down for the night. The police were closing it all off.
Think you mean Kennford on the A38 approach to the M5.
Kenfig's just off the M4 in Wales and is actually a half-decent beach, quicker than the South Coast if you live somewhere like Bristol. Kids don't seem to mind looking at a steelworks when they're building sandcastles!0 -
Ah....another thing about the British. the weather.:D
It's winter wonderland outside.I think I'm 'snowed in'0 -
Space for tree made!
Now to persuade eldest to go into the loft and get the tree and calm down youngest in the inevitable stress out he is going to have as I have moved his art desk along the wall (he positions it precisely) and his art provisions upstairs.
But we will have a Christmas tree up this year.
Good for you Sue! Actually, I felt better for making the effort and allowed my eldest to set the date (he chose 8th December because that was the day my mum died 4 years ago and that year they were both still small and to cheer them up that evening we put up the decorations) and we did it!
Still cannot shake off the sadness at Christmas, but at least I don't feel guilty for making the kids miss out on the trappings of Christmas.
Bet your eldest will be fine with it: he sounds a good lad and a bit of a support.
Hope you all have a lovely Christmas."there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -

Kennford of course. Getting muddled with Kenfig Hill , lol.0 -
That wasn't well done of me at all.
I have a bit of a temper sometimes:o
So do I - but sometimes people just really do deserve it so I don't let it get me down if they do feel the sharp side of my tongue:D"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
I got a Kenwood thingy in a wedding present and the only time I ever took it out of the box was when the brat and I watched Peter Pan.
She wore her Tinkerbell dress and I used the bread hook to emulate the bloke with the problem with clocks.
Sadly that is a true story.

I'm not sure I would have admitted that, but thank you for the laugh! I used to love making paperchains at Xmas. And we had these old paper chinese lantern style decorations that packed flat and then became lanterns when hung up.
They were a bit like this, but the paper was more crepe-style ... and colours more 1960s/orange/red/pea-green. http://thumb10.shutterstock.com.edgesuite.net/display_pic_with_logo/67628/67628,1175572123,1/stock-photo-trio-of-red-paper-chinese-lanterns-3008428.jpg0 -
