Feeling a little better this morning, think it all just got on top of me last night. It ended up with me sobbing my little heart out in bed doing the woe is me thing....basically after coming to the realisation that my life has been a bloody waste and that after nearly 40 years on this planet and what do I have to show for it? A HA house, benefits and at the present time, no career prospects whatsoever...just 24hr drudge being mum and carer for the forseeable future.

As for youngest, normally I would agree Dave and do try to prepare him for moods in others but he is already so unsettled from his whole routine going base over apex last week that it is imperative I keep things as calm and normal as possible this week.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

There are a lot of people who crave the security of a HA house. No shame in receiving benefits when you need them. By the sounds of it you are doing an amazing job of being a mum and carer and it would cost the state a lot more if you weren't caring for your children. As for career prospects, the skills you have gained in looking after your own are bound to be useful to you in a future career.

Please don't do yourself sown, it is hard enough at times bringing up children with no special needs with a spouse, to bring up 3 with special conditions on your own is truely amazing.

Sue, you have achieved. Your children may have challenges, but No 1 is both considerate and resourceful...look at how he let us know what was happening that time, and his other acheivements are significant....you also have an artist. You have achieved a huge understanding of how to support young people with challenges. Its currently applied to your boys, in the future who knows, you might be able to help others. Your boys sound pretty well brought up to me...not an insignificant achievement when you look around...

Totally agree with others Sue - I'm the same age as you, more or less, and I don't even have a HA house to show for it! :rotfl:

What we are both blessed with are 3 wonderful children - yours are I'm sure harder work than mine, but I'm sure equally rewarding too.

Don't fall into the Hamish trap of imagining that your worth can be measured by the size of your house/telly/whatever.

What you leave behind you is both far more profound and intangible.

You're a great and unique person; the space you fill could not be filled by anyone else in the way you do, or as well. :)

Is it just because of the size of this thread ca?

I see this thread as a chat, banter, general off topic type of thread that can ramble along in any "nice" direction.

Thought there are some good posts, i don't thing there is anything people would miss if the thread fell off but equally i don't see what will be gained by creating another thread to do the same as this one unless size matters.

If they did both run concurrent either could or would go in different paths but really both would be filling the same gap.

    :A

Yes, this was just down to size - no other reason. I'd be quite happy to see this thread just meandering along like a river, twisting and turning merrily in its nice little way; but a fellow poster (baileysbattlebus??) mentioned that we might be asked to downsize for techy reasons.

So the aim would be to pension off this thread, while continuing it in spirit and possibly almost-identical name elsewhere. :)

    :)

I may just do a Mr B and create half a dozen sockies so I can keep thanking this post.

It is easily the most sensible thing I have ever read on this or any other thread.

It should be nailed to the front door of MSE just to remind us all what actually matters in life.

Why not..but you will have to write a new intro...the original was funny...nice people to talk nicely about.......

I am sure we will all find it...someone could bump it up each time it goes to 2nd page and then this one will fade away.

I don't want this thread to fade away. :(

    I like it here.

Still, if needs must, I'll construct a new hang-out for the nice people, complete with virtual water cooler, pictures of attractive people, everyone's pets, and lots and lots of virtual chocolate. :)

I found it absolutely fascinating. The way the internet is shaping people is something I find endlessly interesting.

It is possible that I am a bit weird.

I would totally agree about some of the best posts coming from this thread. We come closer to genuine discussion on here than anywhere else on the board.
