Fingers crossed the funding remains secure for the future. :A

Loads of 'worthwhile' causes / projects have closed down here the last couple years :(

She thinks it will be OK.

I had some experience of children in care in the 1970s, and then it was apparent that they were often fine until going out into the world, when their inexperience and simple lack of provision, or follow-up, often led to them going astray. It was so bloody stupid.

Hello all - just thought I'd post to say I've not been around much because I've just got a new job. Wasn't exactly looking for one - just sort of idly googling one morning when bored - found something so local and well-paid it seemed a shame not to go for it. Will fill up most of my spare daytime hours and some of my evenings, so I will be on here less I suspect (certainly during the day). I start tomorrow! Went in today to get a feel for it - all rather sudden as I only found out I'd got it on Friday, needed to produce all my proof of qualifications by Monday morning (despite being away all weekend!), which was entertaining given I haven't seen a couple of the bits of paper in a decade!

Amazingly, found them, got references sorted and ready to start.

Luckily am used to walking in at the deep end initially but it should be an interesting learning curve.

I'm committed to a semester; see how I like it.

    Aaagh...all a bit quick.

Oh well. Money will be nice. Real (as opposed to virtual) water cooler moments will be nice too. Real work colleagues again! Oooh! :)

Huge congratulations! I love that warm fuzzy feeling when you get offered a job that suits perfectly and is on good terms.

Not had it for a while though :(
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

You know what, right now...I'd say yes. :o

No need for the :o smiley. If it's payment by results, that's fine. As you know, getting other people to understand can be tricky, especially when they are selling agants.

And then there are the places that look like non-starters.....until suddenly their hidden charms are revealed with a visit.

I imagine there are specialists out there when it comes to equine. And come to think of it, didn't Garrington Homefinders go bust?

But most of the people on here wouldn't know that the lady on the show was lir, would they? Why not apply for the show? People on the show are usually either (a) daft couples with despotic wives and spineless husbands or (b) nice people in unusual circumstances or looking for unusual property. From what I know of you, you fit (b) perfectly.

ETA Meant to say congrats from me too, Carol. Haven't been on this thread for a few days and missed your news.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

There's actually loads of stuff out there, including non-teaching stuff I could easily do too. Contemplated them; but the rate on this one was too good to pass up by comparison.

    Well done, Carol!:)

Stick with the kids; they keep you young. Take it from me, grey hairs will appear if you leave the little darlings.

(Mind you they might take another 20 years or so in your case!)

I think a good handful of people would make the leap.....:) thanks for not suggesting we'd be group a though. I promise if we go on the show I shall do all the talking and boss my husband about with all my might.:D
