sh1305 thank your lucky stars you can USE the library; I CAN'T. I go in there, I have panic attacks, so I'm restricted to the first floor and to the ATS (assistive tech suite) I have to buy all of my books and carry a laptop every single day. I'm severely skint through buying them as my DSA hasn't come through yet. Thinkyourself lucky yours has.

When mine does, I'm getting a lighter laptop as I have to carry mine everywhere. I get a book allowance as I have to buy all of mine, and having a mentor to get books out of the library for me. Do you know how tiny you feel knowing someone else has to go into the library for you, and how not accessing it is putting me at a severe disadvantage. I've had my mentor two weeks, and term finishes in two, so I've missed quite a lot (luckily some of it is online, so I've not missed all)

Through all your !!!!!ing and whining and complaining you've forgotten, regardless there are people worse off that you. I know I'm not the worst, and I know there are people worse, but I acknowledge it and try to do what I can to help them (opening doors, putting stuff in bags etc etc) I'm not complaining about carrying my laptop, and constantly standin out as I'm the ONLY person who records lectures and has the lecturers asking me if I'm ok every single day.
How's about you shut your mouth and LOOK at what people have suggested before poopooing it. ONW has suggested a laptop trolley, it wouldn't take much to ask for one, or to apply to Access For Learning fund to see if you can get funded for one. It doesn't take much to buy one in the meantime and save your back.

The One Who, go to your disability dept and let them know, let them know if you need anything put in place or need equipment loans. I'm lucky uni have been so helpful, otherwise I don't know where I'd be

Lucky for what exactly? Being born with various eye problems that mean I will never drive.

You (and other non-disabled students) can use library computers - I can't. How hard is that to understand?

You were given a laptop Titch89, most students were not - how hard is that to understand?

(Before you say 'I'm not Titch89' - do you think anyone believes you?)

Boo !!!!ing hoo. I have to have someone go into the library and get books for me too.

At least you can access it - because I can't walk down stairs due to balance issues, the library IS inaccessible for me.

I am NOT Titch89. Check my Ip address if you don't believe me. Oh sorry, I forgot you can't do that.

How hard is it for you to understand that my HAD to pay some money (something they don't have) for this laptop?

I can't drive either. I've accepted this fact and will have to work around it.

How hard is it for you to understand how lucky you are that you can get equipment bought for you? How would you cope if there was no such money available? And why did your parents pay for a laptop when you don't even carry it around with you?

Thanks. I'm not complaining about my depression/eating disorder/others. I know that the university can't really offer me anything other than point me in the direction of the counselling service. That's fine. There's not really any 'real' solution. I get on with things.

Titch89, you are the most ungrateful person I have ever come across. The way that you have just spoken to elfen just sums up what a horrible, selfish person you are.

One day you are going to have to live in the real world, and you are going to get one heck of a shock.

You seem quite happy complaining about how you have to carry around your laptop, how much of a burden it is, etc, etc.

Lets be fair. Elfen's post wasn't particularly friendly either. I think this thread has gone on too long. I don't know what the vendetta is with the OP but I hope this gets closed as it is going too far.
