Sorry but to someone from the outside this all seems way over the top. Definitely feels like a whole group ganging up on someone. As I have said before I have no knowledge about who the OP is or was just dont like to see someone getting the sort of abuse I have seen. If you think that is melodramatic have a look back through, from memory they have been called a liar (more than once) told they can carry a laptop without problems, unless people on here know the OP in the real world and know the model of laptop I dont know how they can make that decision. My DIL bought one of those pull along cases on wheels as carrying her laptop round all day was causing her problems and she is fit and well. Also references from other sites, called ungrateful and accused of whining. I could go on but I won't.
To the OP I suggest you don't respond anymore, I am sure you can't be enjoying this so I suggest you follow the useful advice you have had and ignore the rest. I am sure uni must be a struggle with your problems and I hope you get some help to sort them out.
It gets people's backs up when they do give helpful advice, but it is continually countered with "yes, but..." responses. The OP dies not seem to want to help themselves, especially when the first step should have been (and should always be) to directly see and talk to the person/people who can actually do something. Not just make them aware of a problem, make them aware that you want something done about it and offer a suggestion as to how the situation could be resolved.0 -
I don't live in halls - I live in shared accommodation.
Just to refresh your memory:I've really had enough of the "internet" we have in halls. It's 512kbps and hardly ever lets me connect to the internet. If it does, it works for about 20 minutes. Can you not live somwhere cheaper? I live in London halls adn pay just over £4k per year.
Unless you have moved in the past three days?
Gone ... or have I?0 -

This is why I hate dealing with DSA students. It's a running battle I have, and it's all because of wants, rather than needs.
This rins true in about 90% of DSA's, the other 10% are genuinely happy to get the additional support.0 -
I love this read. Every morning, first thing I do when I come into work is to see updates on this! Brilliant!0

Sorry but to someone from the outside this all seems way over the top..
That is possibly true, but let me assure you that most of those posting here are long time helpful posters who are in the field the OP needs assistance with.Definitely feels like a whole group ganging up on someone. ..
Again, it may seem so, but in actuality it is a group of people who have all been here before, tried to help and been rebuffed and ignored and yet the Op is still here asking the same questions. As I have said before I have no knowledge about who the OP is or was just dont like to see someone getting the sort of abuse I have seen. If you think that is melodramatic have a look back through, from memory they have been called a liar (more than once) told they can carry a laptop without problems, unless people on here know the OP in the real world and know the model of laptop I dont know how they can make that decision. ..
Trust us, the OP has another persona, and, as has been aptly demonstrated by the contradictory posts on copied onto the thread, is not entirely truthful;)
The point about the laptop was that it issomething that has been given to allow the Uni to meet its obligations under the DDA. They could simply have put magnifying software onto terminals in the rooms the OP uses, and still met their obligations. Had they done that the OP would be complaining about not having facilities at home. She appears to be a serial complainer. My DIL bought one of those pull along cases on wheels as carrying her laptop round all day was causing her problems and she is fit and well. Also references from other sites, called ungrateful and accused of whining. I could go on but I won't.

I hope you can see why we have posted as we did, and that it is not out of malice, but out of a desire not to be made fools of and fed outright lies, and yet still try to help.
The OP has had reasonable adjustment made, as set out by the DDA, and if she needs more she has been given the information and pointers as how to to achieve that, both here and in several other threads.
Sadly, she appears to be part of an ever growing group who, despite any and all help, still perceive themselves to be disadvantaged, and are vocal in their dissatisfaction. No personal responsibility is taken by members of this group, it is always someone else at fault, someone else lacking, someone else not doing their bit. They do a great disservice to the many disabled students who struggle, and who achieve through grit and tenacity, and are appreciative of any help given.0 -
OP have you had a colourimeter exam done lately? If so the DSA will fund glasses and overlays to help you read off the white background better meaning you can have better access to the uni computers.0

OP, The only posts you have ignored from yesterday are the ones suggesting a solution!

What do you think about the laptop trolley, or wheely bag idea?
I am sure you could get one of these if you requested it...0 -

The OP always ignores posts suggesting ways to make life better for themselves.
The OP always ignores posts telling them to talk to people who can help in real life.
The OP likes insulting other people with Disabilities.
The OP likes wallowing in self pity.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
