Same call and SMS rates as Asda (surprise).
Very expensive international call prices. £1 to call a phone in SE Asia ? like 100 times more expensive than some.
0800 as free is nice but no mention of the far more widely used 0870/0844/0845 etc. (which they all rip us off on).
General consensus seems to be a good candidate for the first virtual network to fail.0 -
If you want to cancel, just ask to goto PAYG, if you ask for a PAC code and forget to use it within 30 days then the contract will carry on a 30 days rolling and you have to give notice again.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -

If you bothered to look your find their NGN rates, but their not the cheapest kids on the PAYG block.
http://giffgaff.com/index/pricing click on other prices
You clearly havent thought out the potential call savings to be made because of the Free Calls to 0800/0808.
So you think o2 will allow them to fail ,i doubt it.0 -

If you thought things out you would realise you could use Free 0800 calls to your advantage to make cheap intl calls.

No need for this to degenerate into a slanging match but I do not see any connection to o2 except that they have bought or are buying excess capacity airtime from o2. The way you portray it is as if it was o2 themselves. Is it ? If it is, then I accept your comments on non failure.
When you can direct dial for 1/2/3p or use SIP or Skype for free (with subscription or contract admittedly) to call internationally for (near to) free, who wants to be bothered with calling one number to call another ? And isn't this the reason why 0800 was taken off the free list in the first place ? because people were doing exactly this ?0 -

I accept that there are no post 31/12/09 dates or prices but their whole business model fails or succeeds on that 5p a call. It is their effective trademark and as such, I'll bet it will be as permanent as anything in the mobile world is.
I don't have to defend Vectone but you are scaremongering. Even if a network changed their prices, you could just switch the next day and just where are the post 2009 prices for Vectone ? Nowhere.
OK lets not have a slanging match but dont accuse me of scaremongering.
Their site clearly says that 5p a minute is a promotional offer ending on the 31/12/09. You may have missed because its not displayed permanently.See part 4 of the changing ad on front page. The one that starts 1p weekends. http://www.vectonemobile.co.uk/default.aspx?lang=en0 -

My understanding is that O2 have put the money up to start it both GiffGaff .com and .co uk domain names are registered to Telefonica O2 UK Limited / O2 Holdings.
Post 9 here confirms this : http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2102127&highlight=giffgaff0 -

I started a recent thread about Vectone here. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2010721&highlight=vectone+mobile
your see the first thing someone mentioned was the 5p promotional rate to 31/12/2009.;)0 -

You're at least a year too late to predict which will be the first virtual network to fail
And although giffgaff will be run autonomously as an mvno, it is owned by O2, so even if they decide to close the brand people would be offered transfers without losing their cash, so you might quit the sneersproperty.advert wrote: »... but their whole business model fails or succeeds on that 5p a call. Vectone's 5p is a promotional rate, and they and others have had promotional offers in the several countries they trade in, some which last and some which don't. 5p to other mobiles is very unlikely to be sustainable long term, as the wholesale termination rates are not much less than that.0 -
property.advert wrote: »There is no contest for price - Vectone http://www.vectonemobile.co.uk/default.aspx?lang=en
5p call/sms versus Asda at 8p/4p. On the T-Mobile network. SIMs readily available in London or from the company online. £5 extra if you transfer your number.
Some great international rates as well.
I've had one for a few weeks and no problems.

Not everyone uses a PAYG mobile to call international destinations. Having the ability to call 0800 access number for free is much more convenient.0
