I take it that the websites trusted? Hate trying to figure that out with new websites I come across.

I know that With Sony you can't go wrong, but I stay clear of it because I would have to spend more than £500 (which is what I had in mind to spend on a TV) for a 37", and you have a tendency to pay a premium for the Sony Brand.
Both TV I had chosen comes at £500 or less on Amazon, though I will have to have a rethink about getting a Toshiba TV.
Panasonics seem to fare well, I don't really fancy LG, though it seems they have good reviews.

I bought my 46W5500 from there just last week

Everything runs like clockwork so long as the item you want is in stock

I have to disagree about 'paying a premium' for Sonys. I know where your coming from, but their tvs are so good that you would have to spend a WHOLE lot more to get better quality. So if anything theyre TOO cheap!

Anyways, heres some reviews of 37 to 40" tvs (I know none are withing your budget, but if you shop around some might be) ~

Id personally recommend ~ Panasonic Plasma, Sony LCD or Samsung LCD

Thank aliEnRIK, the Panasonic Plasma you suggested is about the same as the one I had shortlisted, but I saw it somewhere else at £210 less. So I might go for it as it seems a good bargain, as the other TVs I was interested in are all around the £600 mark.(including the Sony's).
When full HD is the norm and the technology develops, I might revert to LCD or LED, whatever there is at the time.

The 37X10 is a cracking tv and would take it over any toshiba LCD as long as you can get it for a good price.

The 46inch G10 plasma was around at £750 a few weeks ago at Dixons, although not sure if this offer is still on. Definately go for the biggest set you can realistically afford and squeeze into your room. They shrink with age :p

Thanks -Ad-, I got the 37x10b, I bought it from Amazon for £440.
37" is the big maximum I can go for for my room, and I will have to drag my sofa right back, now I am about 3 feet from the television I have.
As for power consumption (most websites indicate that Plasma TVs have the biggest power consumption compared to LCD or CRT), this TV has an Eco Mode, it seems that it can help keeping the power consumption down.
£440 seems a good bargain, as I must have paid about £350 for my toshiba CRT about 10 years ago.
I wanted to wait next year to buy a new TV, then I remembered the tax will rise from 15% to 17.5% in january.(or more after the elections).
Looking forward to get it tomorrow.:D

Just so your aware ~ eco mode also means a drop in picture quality as well as overall contrast

Yes, some people don't like it and turn it off. I think you can change the settings within the eco mode, so if you find it's too bad you can tweak it.
To depend how much more my electricity bill will be, it might be fine using the TV without eco mode.

Out of the Panasonic and the Toshiba I would of gone for the Pana Plasma as well. Though the Sony W series AlienRik mentioned is a awesome TV for the price.

The Toshiba 37XV has Rated power consumption of 126W

The Panasonic has a Rated Power Consumption of 230W but on average 189W which I don't think is too bad considering some Plasma's can hit close to 450-500W in the larger screen sizes (50-60")

My 40in Sony has a 175W consumption so I think 189W average is quite reasoanble for a Plasma.
