LCD or Plasma TV?

I am on the verge of buying a new TV to replace my old 28" big box which is taking a big space in my small living room.
I was going to buy an LCD TV 37" but I have just found a reasonably priced Plasma TV with everything I need and with excellent consumer reviews.
After looking at the difference between the two technologies on some websites, it seems that Plasma TVs have screen burn-in problems, have a shorter lifespan and use more electricity than LCD's.
Then on another website, it stated that plasma televisions made lately have resolved the burn-in problem, have the same lifespan than an LCD TV and don't necessarily use more electricity than a LCD TV.
What do you think? Should I go for the Plasma TV or an LCD TV?

They do use more power.
Will you be using it mainly for gaming or movies?
Will be watching High def or standard def more?0 -
The Plasma TV I am looking for is HD Ready.
I do some gaming but not often as I don't have much time.
Mainly be watching standard definition, freeview, watch DVDs and TV recordings on HDD, things like that.0 -
Go for the TV that you think looks best in terms of picture quality.
But my opinion would be Plasma. I got a Plasma a year ago and love it and have no regrets (especially when I see the rubbish quality of friends and families LCDs).
Screen burn isn't too much of a concern these days. I know of someone who's kids had it on nickelodeon all day and the nick logo burned into the TV, but it eventually disappeared completely.
I find that most channels the logos actually disappear during the adverts meaning it's never a problem.
My instructions recommended for the first 200 hours of viewing to not have a still picture for more than hour. This just meant when watching a DVD (with the black bits top and bottom) I just switched to another channel briefly halfway through.
I did some research on the fact that Plasmas use more electricity than an LCD and found out that Plasma will use less electricity during dark images and more during bright images and so it sort of evens out.
In terms of how long they last, I worked out that mine would last 30 years if I watched it 8 hours a day every day. I think most people would buy a new TV by this time.0 -
It's between these :

and

What does it mean when you got 2 scart sockets but only one is RGB enabled?0 -

I wouldnt touch the Toshiba with a bargepole
The Pans good but you can do far better for the same money
Id recommend this ~

Once its setup correctly it really does look amazing (With regards to the above comment that LCDs look bad compared to plasma, thats because most people dont have a clue how to set them up correctly\\0
As for RGB SCART ~ all scart sockets allow 'composite' video through (The most basic signal there is and what video recorders use), RGB is a step up as the signal is in 3 parts.:idea:0 -

Its very hard to determine which is the best picture quality as NO shop EVER has them setup correctly.
Plasmas were the bomb (And the Pioneer Kuros still are) but things have majorly moved on this last year
Plasmas use approx double the electricity when compared to a similar LCD thats been 'properly calibrated':idea:0 -
If the place around is cool then Plasma is good, because the plasma TV produce more heat than LCD.0

Your seriously suggesting a plasma purely because it produces more heat?? Does picture quality not enter into it??:idea:0 -
Just a wee hijack of the thread.
Are LED TVs worth it?
How do you configure LCDs properly?0
