I totally agree with you Tinkerbel - something's only worth what people are willing to pay for it, and this is a funny old place. It's a village you wouldn't even know existed unless you lived near it, you wouldn't want to live there with kids as there are no schools, there are no shops or amenities, one bus every two hours I think. It's a bit too expensive for most people renting on their own, or young couples renting whilst saving for a deposit, so it's really only a limited few people who would be interested. If we say we're ready to move in at a moment's notice and will stay for 12 months+, then it might get to the week before the current tenant leaves and she might think losing £30 a month is an OK trade-off for that guarantee of rent and the house not being stood empty. Anyway I'm going to try not to think about the place any more. I was upset yesterday because when I first saw it it was fantastic and felt out of our league, and I thought the cats would be a no-no and then we came so close to it being possible that it was quite disappointing to have it just collapse.
There was a massive accident on the way to work this morning, full police investigation unit and everything and a bicycle on the verge, seems very seriousSo I need to stop my petty whinging!
In money news, I got £5-odd from Quidco yesterday and also put £50 into the MOF as I was feeling a bit flush, so that's gone up a bit. Still have a load of coppers to put into it bt I can't bring myself to bring them all to work to take to the bank - they're so heavy. Off work tomorrow so might get OH to bring them with me. Lots to do today though so getting on with work - I'm only in a day and a half before next Thursday and it's really busy
To be honest the landlord doesn't sound very flexible. As a landlord I would always expect the tenants to haggle a bit. Hopefully they will come back to you on it.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Sounds like the landlord is in financial difficulty and needs every penny, and is renting out their former home rather than sell at a loss. Just a guess likeDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

It is her former home Dinah but apparently she's now living in Wynyard and building up her property portfolio... We'll see we'll see, feeling a bit more zen about it now, although after passing it and the weekend and seeing a prominent To Let sign outside OH and I were considering stealing it to eliminate the competition, then maybe burgling a few neighbours to make it a 'dodgy' area and bring the price downWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0

lol tete I love it! Might not be the bestest idea you've had though..!
I really hope it all works out for you, I think you are being really smart by not jumping straight in with your heart though!0 -
Well Lulu thinks it's a good idea!
Finishing work at 12 today, off to London for a work dinner thing tonight and long full day meeting tomorrow, but I'm taking advantage of the open return tickt I got from work to see a couple of my bestest buds, we're going out for tea tomorrow nightOH has also requested I go to the Hummingbird Bakery to get him a pressie as it's only round the corner from my hotel. My cakes may never be good enough for him again though!!

Ugh, I hate having time off work then having to be like a headless chicken when you get back
Meeting was totally boring and pointless as I suspected but it was so lovely to see the girls, I was really glad I stayed the extra night. I got some belated birthday pressies from them including cake tins and some zoo animal shaped cookie cutters, then they started making demands about what I have to bring when I see them in June! Tut.
I have to confess I was a little disappointed with the Hummingbird, there were only 7 types of cupcake to choose from, I really thought there'd be more choice. I got a box of six and they cost £12.78  the only one I've tried was the black bottom one which I've never tried making myself, and it was a bit rich. OH had three and they nearly killed him (serves him right). I still have a carrot one to try tonight, and OH's coming round to make the big lemon cake for his friend's birthday tomorrow ... I'm actually excited to use my new zester!
I think Dinah's book spree has rubbed off on me, I just went to The Works and bought Gordon Ramsay's Great British Pub Food and Cupcakes from the Primrose Bakery - plus a couple of books for Dad's birthday, all for £16! Regretting buying three hardbacks from the other end of town now though!
Not much happening in money news, still no sign of my Ciao money that I withdrew a while ago but it normally takes ages so I'm just being patient. I have £38 in coins bagged up in my boot, just can't face taking them to the bank!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
