  • Just had our payslips and I've noticed that my NI number is wrong! How long has it been like this? Investigation needed this evening. Augh, there's always something that needs sorting out isn't there?

    Mental note:

    - Check old payslips and query with HR
    - Raise Quidco query for EDF
    - Find cheap breakdown cover

Well yes, since I started this job in August 2007, the NI number on my payslip has been one number out, and I never noticed :o Well, we all just look at the number in the box don't we? :o So I've emailed a random person in Payroll to ask, hopefully she'll get back to me today.

Also got home last night to an odd letter from Lloyds where I have my ISA, saying they'd been trying to contact me about my account (not on my mobile or house phone though...) and can I ring this number - a mobile number. It was signed 'the Manager' ... all seems a bit fishy to me, especially as it was all "we've" and "we'd" not "we have" and "we would", going to take the letter into the branch at lunchtime. So list of niggly annoying things has grown:

    - [STRIKE]Check old payslips and query with HR[/STRIKE]
    - Raise Quidco query for EDF
    - Find cheap breakdown cover
    - Go into Lloyds with letter, get some money bags
    - Pick up ingredients for baking later on :D

    That does sound fishy!

Hope payroll can sort out the NI issue - you don't want your NI contributions to be invalid for 2 and a half years!

I hate it when you have loads of pesky little things to sort out. We have plumbers in at the moment installing central heating (yay! and yes, I know, just as spring is on its way...) but they have drilled through our phone line - pain! Luckily my mum is pretty much the only person who uses it, so we're not too worried :rotfl: I'm sure they'll sort it soon *sigh*

What are you baking? Is is it a special occasion or doesn't there need to be a reason?!

  • Glad it's not just my suspicious mind then? (We can't go on together....!)

They've emailed to say that they've amended my records and that as HRMC have the right number it's OK. Hope so. My friend's husband is a tax man so will pick his brains!

How annoying about the phoneline, surely it's their responsibilty to fix it/pay for it to be fixed though?

Thinking of baking some Hummingbird banana and chocolate cupcakes, just for no reason :)

Hope you got the letter thing sorted out tete - although have to admit it sounds a bit fishy to me aswell, they cant be that desperate to get hold of you if you havent had any phonecalls!

Well the viewing for the house yesterday was cancelled - apparently there is some structural work that needs to be done that they only found on further investigation a few days ago. The place isnt safe to go in now, but they will be doing the work and then completely redecorating.

Anyway to cut a long story short we had a wander round and peaked through some windows and it looks promising, we still have first refusal so he will let us know as soon as it is ready to view. But it should be ready to move into in about 5 - 6 weeks, so the saving needs to step up a gear!! :D

Sorry for the long post just excited

Right it's payday, so bits of money to be moved hither and thither...
    *MONSTER POST ALERT*

I've moved money across to my car saver and Christmas saver, everything else is going via DD the next couple of days. I 'owe myself' some birthday money which I used for general spending last month, so because of that I'm only going to move £150 into the MOF for now, then see how I'm going later in the month.

I also counted up the rather large copper and silver bottle last night, it had a total of about £78 in it, so I've got £50 worth of 5p and 10p coins in my bag ready to go into the MOF also. They weigh a tonne!

I'm at -£26.38 in the MOF account so with the £200 I'm putting in today that should bring me to £173.62. It's not progressing as fast as I'd like but at least I know I'll be OK for money this month and won't end up overdrawn.

We've decided to go and view the lovely cottage, and also decided on how the bills money would be split, OH will pay about £200 more than me overall, which leaves me a much better amount of money left over - for things like saving for holidays etc, rather than meals out which is where it all goes at the moment. I don't think once we've got our own little love nest I'll ever want to leave it :D

And if it ends up that we move sooner rather than later, I'll have to have a think about what to do - either bite the bullet and take some money from savings (which I'm worried I may have to do at some point anyway if my car gives up the ghost), or use the OD again in the short term. I hate the idea of reducing the amount I have in savings but I'm also aware that if I use my OD I won't be able to pay it back as easily once I have a house to look after. And also the fact than when you're in your OD it's so easy to just put another tenner on it, and another, which is how I ended up £850 overdrawn last year just from using it to pay my sub-£300 car insurance!

Went into Lloyds with my 'dodgy' letter - the lady said it's definitely the name of someone who works in a different branch and they were probably contacting me about extening my fixed rate for another year! Panic over.

I've been up early today, pottering about and doing things in the house, and have a few things to do at lunch time too...

    - Phone letting agents
    - look at gas bill with Dad
    - Raise Quidco query for EDF - this is turning into a nightmare, they want a reference number, I only have one but they say this isn't it! They owe £60 goddamnit!
    - Find cheap breakdown cover
    - Find cheapest cat flea stuff online and order
    - Bank - pay money in and get money out for board
    - Buy pinking shears and cat food
    - Look at cinema times
    - 1 Dooyoo

Also need to start moving some more over to Ciao too.

Phew, think that's it for now, sorry for the waffle!

  • Flower, in my payday eagerness I only just noticed your post! Sounds a bit scary about the structural probs but I guess at least they found out now. How long will it be before you can move in (if you do indeed want to once you've had a look around!)?

  • Ah we went to have a look at the lovely cottage yesterday. It's fabulous, so nicely finished and just beautiful and different, we both loved it. The agent is going to contact the landlady about the cats but in my heart of hearts I don't think she'll allow them, the place is just immaculate. Augh and there are two donkeys in a field out the back too! I want to live in a place that has donkeys out the back!!!!

Even if she does allow the cats, we need to get the price down by £25 per month as that's our limit really. We can afford more, but don't want to be spending that much on rent really. Ah never mind, somewhere will turn up :(

Just about to start my Sunday chores: washing, ironing, making packed lunch etc etc - I hate Sundays!

Well we're not really sure at the minute, i think they are still trying to establish how serious the problem is. But he said he hopes the house will be ready to view within 4 - 5 weeks, he wont advertise it until we have viewed it which is good. So potentially i guess we could be in within 7 or 8 weeks if we like it. Exciting but scary!!

Thought you would love the cottage - you never know the landlord/lady might be a cat lover!!

  • That is exciting and nice of him not to advertise it for you. Yeah fingers crossed about the landlady but I'm not holding my breath. As we were leaving it felt a bit like "Well this is what you could have won, now go and get somewhere on the rough council estate where they let you have pets" :o
