Becky have a wonderful day and a great haircut. I was supposed to get mine done this half term holiday but i forgot as i have been so busy. Lsst month was a bit peculiar as i opened up a new bank account and my salary was paid into the wrong bank account by mistake. It was a bit confusing but finally it has been sorted.

I have done my figures and realised that i have saved just under £2000 this month and that includes a refund from my electricity provider. I am rather proud of myself however next month will be rubbish as i went out a lot this week and am spending a lot on meals and drinks. I feel guilty but it only tends to happen in my hols and it has been much cheaper than an overseas holiday which i really fancy right now but have to wait!!!

Everyone keep saving and telling me about your lovely holidays as it cheers me up.
    hugs,

Hello everyone, haven't in for a few weeks so thought I would update.

Hi Becky, we are off to Venice next week - can't wait - we've had it booked for so long, cannot believe that it is now less than a couple of weeks ago - doesn't time go quick.

Hello Savingwannabe, your posts are really interesting - well done for saving for three years - that's totally amazing. Can I ask how you managed to save so much - have you been on a budget for the past three years - that's fab - well done. Also well done for your £2,000 saving - that's amazing as well. We have also done a few things to our house over the last few months - I know that it's really expensive - we are now saving to have our hall, stairs and landing painting (as well as new carpet) - which I think will be about £1,500 to £2,000 (have had a few quotes already). That is the next thing that we want to save for and are looking at around September.

With regards my saving, hopefully by the end of this month, I'd have hit over the £2,500 mark. I did want to save quite a bit with my pay this month but treated myself to some two new pairs of shoes, haircut, massage and a few new clothes for work. With my pay at the end of June, I want to try and save at least £200 (fingers crossed).

This weekend has been really quiet - lovely weather yesterday but no so great today and then back at work tomorrow - having a lovely roast dinner later and then early night.

    Good luck with saving everyone.

    Hi ladies,

Its been such a long time since i have updated and i have well and truly falling off the money saving wagon. But no point moaning about it i have had an amazing month. My holiday to Sri lanka was just wonderful. It is such a beautiful country, although the poverty there is really bad which makes you really value how lucky we really are having jobs, nice homes and food on the table everyday. Some of the people that we got friendly with were so grateful if they made 75p that day selling their beautiful craft wares as they could feed their children that night. It really made you think!

Emma i hope you have a fab time next week and look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.

Savingwannabe, i agree with emma well done for your 3 years of saving. Its such a good feeling isnt it.

Well ladies my plan for this week is to sort my budget out and find some motivation to do some serious saving.

Hope everybody has a good week and look forward to hearing from you all.

    take care Karrie. xxx

Hello ladies, i live alone which i think makes it easier. I do go out but only twice a month. I have not bought clothes for ages as i have lots. I did buy a pair of trainers for trampolining but haven't used them yet!!! I dont really spend on myself now. I try to save £600 a month from my salary.

I have been trying to finish off old expensive branded cosmetics. My weaknesses are that i am cutting back on myself but spend a fortune on cheering up my friends when we go out. It is v expensive but they deserve it. I must cut back a bit or maybe treat myself a bit more.

I went out a couple of times in the holiday and spent £250 on presents and meals for friends which i now realise was unecessary especially when there wasn't even a special occasion like a birthday. I must learn to be more disciplined! It is hard as i keep thinking i am earning my old salary from before i was ill! I will be lucky to save £600 this month! But it is ok as i saved lots last month from ebaying my cd's.

Fingers crossed, we will there in the end. I am going to try to cut back on my spending to make up for it this month!

EEEEK! Sometimes we learn the hard way.

    Morning all

Hope you are all well and that you are managing to save a bit of money this month. I have not gone into work today since I have twisted my foot and need to keep it cold and up. Hopefully I will be back tomorrow. Apart from that I am fine. I am only managing to save small amount of money at the moment, £10 or so but at least I am not dipping in to my savings anymore. When I get paid next time at the end of this month, I hope to save £50 in July.

Emma - hope you had a great time in Venice and good luck with saving money to do your hallway up.

Karrie - I am glad you had a good time in Sri Lanka. How is your budget planning going? Hope you find the motivation to save money soon.

Savingwannabe - Well done for saving another £2000, this is a fantastic amount. How is the work on your bungalow going? I am the same, I often treat my friends rather spending money on myself but now when I am earning less I only treat my friends to a cup of coffee or so and that seems to go as well down as buying more expensive things.

Enjoy your day and hope to hear from you soon.

Hi ladies, having a few quiet moments so thought I would update you. My trip to Venice was lovely - hectic though - we wanted to try and see everything in a short space of time!

With regards to the saving, managed to save another £20 this week which now brings my total to £2,487. It is pay day at the end of this week and so at the end of the week I am determined to save between £150 and £200. My saving seems to be going quite well but my food shopping is not going so well - have been spending quite a lot lately so really need to cut down -this week I am going to look through my cupboards/freezer and try and stick to my list - I mean I'm not spending loads, but probably about £7 extra a week - this is purely on treats - and can be cut down on.

Hey Savingwannabe, your posts are really interesting... £600 a month saving is brilliant - good for you. Becky - £10 is still £10 and is better than nothing - it's amazing how small amounts quickly build up - keep going you'll get there. This week like I said I only saved £20 but it's better than nothing and it all adds up. Hopefully as well you'll be able to save your £50 in July which will make a difference.

Karrie - glad to hear your holiday in Sri Lanka was brilliant - totally agree with the poverty. I have also been to countries where the poverty really brings home how lucky we are.

Anyway hope to hear from you soon ladies - Becky - hope your foot gets better soon.

Good luck with the saving everybody .x

Emma how great. You have come back when we have nice weather too!!

It has been a lovely day down south. I hope you are all happy. I need to start sticking to my budget as at this rate i am slipping back into my old non-MSE ways. What is it about the summer? How does everyone avoid spending so much when they go out for meals and drinks? I always come back with nothing to show for it but i have paid for everyone's meals. I must stop doing that.

    Evening ladies,

Emma, I am glad you had a great time in Venice. Venice is an interesting city with so much to see. Well done for saving £2487. Like you said £20 here and there and in the end it all adds up. How is going with your no buying cosmetics challenge? Hope your food bill will going down soon.

Savingwannabe, I just had a thought why not leave your card at home and only take a certain amount of cash with you when you are meeting up with friends then you cannot pay for everyones meals. This is what I do and I never take part in drink rounds unless I am out with 1 or 2 friends. I am a slow drinker and always lose out since everyone else are drinking faster than me. I just say that I will pay for my own drinks and so far no one has said anything negative about it. It would be great to hear how you are getting on if you do decide to do anything about it.

My foot is back to normal now. I am glad I stayed at home for one day that helped me recover much faster. Like Emma i will make an effort to spend less on food shopping. I must try harder to use up what I have got. I am keeping a list of what I have in our 2 freezers and cupboard to try to avoid building up too much stock of food at home. Our strawberries in our garden are now starting to get ready to be eaten. We have 10 different types of herbs in our garden so that will save some money.

Enjoy the lovely weather we are having at the moment.
