To save as much money and keep my life as organized, I do following things.
Indirect things.
1) Do not use vehicle where we can go by walk.
2) Switch-off engine of vehicle in heavy traffic and on signal.
Direct things
1) Do not use famous brands when I get same work and satisfaction from local and less expensive brands.
2) Use energy efficient products to reduce the consumption of electric power.0 -
Hi Becky, great to hear from you.
Karrie - hope you post soon.
The toiletry list is going down. Still haven't got anything new so am really pleased. Am using up loads of half filled old shampoo bottles - I love it when it's up and I can throw it away. I don't put a £1 in a pot when bottles are empty but I do have my sealed pot where I put all my change at the end of the week - it's feeling quite heavy - so a good sign.
Haven't been to L either I'm afraid - have had quite a few vouchers from S lately so have been shopping there and trying a few of their basics range to keep costs down. Overall this month have done really well with my food shopping.
Well done on not using the overdraft. I'm never overdraft but I have to work hard at the end of the month not to be and really budget and be careful - that way I know that next month all my money will be my own again.:j
Becky, I love Barcelona. I went there years ago and would love to go back. You must be back now so let me know how you got on.
In relation to the saving well done for your £10, I only managed to save £50 this month but I've got £80 left in my account and I get paid in the next couple of days so I will transfer that in the next couple of days.
My aim is to save £3,500 by the end of the year. Me and my husband have joint savings but this is just a little plan of my own. I am sooo determined to do it - even if it means going without that extra pair of shoes or new top .... I am now over the £2,000 so am getting there slowly.
We want a few new things done in the house though this year so that is going to cost quite a lot probably. I would like the hall and stairs decorated... when you own a house it's never ending - there 's always something to be done or fixed ...
Anyway ladies, hope to hear from you soon.
Karrie - hope all is well with you.

Hi all,
I have just found this thread and think it has some great ideas. I am trying to save and was doing really well at the start of the year, but all of a sudden started to think, I will 'borrow £20' - but never put it back.
I really need some help not dipping into it!!!
I look forward to hearing more ideas from you all.

Hello, I hope everyone is well.
I havent updated for ages but iam feeling so much better about things now.
Becky, i hope you had a fab time in barcelona. I have never been there but it is on my hot list so would love to hear about it.
Well done for not using your overdraft.
Emma well done on saving over £2,000, its such a good feeling isnt it!
Since my last update i have managed to hit the £2,000 mark as well. £103.00 of that was from a sealed tin that i put silver coins in, couldnt believe that there was that much in there, just goes to show that every little helps. :j
I wont be saving much over the next couple of weeks as i am off to Sri lanka for the last 2 weeks of April, so busy saving up some spending money now. Really excited as its is suppose to be a lovely country to visit.
Look forward to hearing from you soon. take care

Hello i am a newbie. I have been posting and reading on MSE for one month now. I seem to have learned so much. If poss i would like to join in too and make inspiring friends on this site.
My name is Kit, I am working and earn 1,600 a month after tax. I need to start saving so i can do my house up as i bought it from a very old couple and it has old decor and carpets etc and needs building work. I live on my own but i do have lots of wonderful friends. I cannot drive and spend a fortune on travel to medical appointments and work when i am ill.
I don't have any debt but i always seemed to spend all my salary so i was nearly overdrawn at the end of the month for the last 3 years. I didn't think i could change anything but i cannot believe how things have changed in the last month. I mooched on this site after seeing Martin Lewis on tv and started to make a few changes.
Since i joined MSE i have started to keep a savings pot and my weekly spending on tea, vending machine at work has dropped from 20pounds to less than 10!!!! In the last month i have put 15 pounds in the spending pot.
For a month i have been taking sandwiches into work. I cannot believe how cheap it is to buy cereal bars from the supermarket rather than spending a fortune on the vending machine at work. I cannot believe how much i have wasted there over the years!!!
I have changed my gas and electricity provider but i didn't understand quidco so i think i didn't benefit as much as i could have.
I have tried getting up in the morning and walking to work and so far this month i have saved a fortune on taxi and bus fares. I wish now i had done it sooner.
I couldn't believe that people could have NSD's well i have had two this week and i am soo pleased with myself. So far this month i have had 7. I am so pleased. To me this is miraculous as for years i have earned a salary and had little to nothing to show for it at the end of the month.
I have a regular amount of savings from my salary but i know that i could save more. This month i seemed to have spent a tiny proportion of my income only about 600 pounds so i am going to try to save the rest.
I think i have had my LBM. I hope you can inspire me.
Big hugs,
:j
My food bill was only 100 pounds!!!! and for once i didn't bin most of it. (probably cos i didn't buy any broccoli) and have dropped a brand. My nearest supermarket is Mr A*da, which i think is very reasonable. Mr L sounds fab but it is too far to get to for me.
Next week we have hols and i am going to catch up with friends but i will try not to spend a fortune and i am going to ask my sister to teach me to ebay so i can sell some things.
I hope you can inspire me, i cannot believe how much i have saved this month!!!Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -

Hi All,
I have managed to get my bum in gear and get some money in the savings account!!! I have taken the card out of my purse (so cannot withdraw), but will still have to try hard not to think of it as 'extra cash' but more as a rainy day fund.
Savingwannabe - Hi and welcome to MSE. As a newbie house owner myself (well 2 years - lol) - I found much more satisfaction from getting house done than holidays!! Keep saving!!!
