  • Hello, day off to today so a quick update.

Becky i love your idea of putting a £1 in a pot when you use up a toiletry item, think i will start to do that as well.
I agree with you on how embarrassing it is to complain, but sometimes it needs to be done. So well done you.

Since my last update i have added another £320.00 to my savings bringing my total to £1,180.00. Really pleased with myself. :D

I also have some news to share with you which will affect my whole life. I found out 2 days ago that i am pregnant. I am still in shock at this news as i cant believe that i am going to be a mummy again. I have only been seeing my fella for about 6 months so this was totally unexpected. I have a lot of thinking to do over the next few weeks of the adjustments i need to make for this new direction my life will be taking.

well ladies i have next week off work so i will be updating a bit more regularly as i have a really big to do list and i thought if i post on here it will make me motivated enough to get on and do it.

    Take care Karrie xxx

    Hi Karrie!

What a shock! Congratulations, hope you are well. Lots of things for you will change but in a positive way. Well done for saving another £320.

I am feeling tired today, due to a late dinner party last night. Fun though! I have had a productive week and have managed to do a few things on my to do list. Tomorrow I am planning to cleaning the oven, which must be the most boring task that I can think of. Still needs to be done though. From next week i will be working in a new position so my hourly rate will be going up with £2 so I should be able to save more soon.

Enjoy your weekend and your week off, hope your to do list will be a bit shorther by the end of the week.

    Take care of yourself.

    Becky

    Hi Ladies

Firstly Karrie, congratulations on your news. Fantastic. Update up asap of how you are getting on. You'll probably need to start saving double the amount you have been soon - good luck. But seriously well done for saving that £320 - that's fab!

I haven't been doing very well at all. Have just spent a fortune in Tesco, which I am a bit cross across -did buy some lovely things though - so next Saturday am going to be very strict with myself. My husband is away for two weeks on a course, so there will only be me in the week. Oh well, at least I've got plenty of stuff for when the course finishes and he is back home. He is coming back weekends thoughs so at least I wont have to buy anything - am still frustrated with myself though.

Becky, I didn't go to L in the end but - I may go there next Saturday - as it will only be me in the week for the next two weeks. Do you know what - I think that might be a plan. Well done for not spending on any toiletries. I really need to try and do the same - especially with shampoo and conditioner - I am a bit of fool when it comes to them - in fact I brought some today. Well done with your new job as well. £2 an hour is great. Hopefully you should see a difference in your pay packet at the end of the month. It is still over a week and a half before I get paid - I didn't get a payrise where I worked last year due to the current climate so well done you. Well done for complaining as well. I complained about some chocolates that I got from Cadburys about four months ago (they only cost 99p) and I got £4 in tokens - was well chuffed - sometimes for the sake of a quick 5 minute letter - it's worth doing.

Anyway have a nice weekend ladies - Karrie looking forward to your next post.

    Take care. E x

  • Hello, just wanted to thank you for your kind words. Sadly this pregnancy is not to be. I am okay just a wash with hormones, so going to be taking it easy for a couple of days whilst things settle down again. I feel kind of sad as for a few days my thoughts had changed for a different future and i did see this pregnancy as a gift especially at my age. but if its not to be then its not to be.

will update again soon. take care. karrie xxx

    Hey Becky and Karrie.

First Karrie - hope to see you back online soon - hope everything is going okay for you at the moment mate.

Just a quick post to let you know my plan for this weekend - if I put it down in writing - it makes me want to do it!! So inspired by your toiletries challenge Becky, I am going to go through my cupboards and write a list of everything that I have. I will write it on here so you can both see. I am determined not to buy anything new until I have used EVERYTHING up.

    Will update soon.:)

Okay ladies, so I went through my cupboards yesterday and here is the list of items :-

    4 x shower gel
    1 x hairspray
2 x body scrub (one big, one small)
    1 x volume shampoo
    1 x dandruff control shampoo
    1 x spare deodrant
    1 x footcream
    1 x face cream
    1 x mega shampoo
    3 x bathbombs
    1 x smooth shampoo
    1 x smooth conditioner
1 x bar of MASSIVE soap
    1 x hair mask
    2 x hot oil treatments
    2 x handcream
    1 x shampoo damage rescue.

Right, I am determined not to buy any more toiletries until most of these are gone. I know there is a toiletries challenge on another board somewhere but will just stick to doing it here. Looking at the list, there is quite a few shampoo bottles appearing.

Anyway ladies, hope you are having a nice relaxing weekend - will update later in the week.

    Morning Ladies,

I just realised this morning that it was a while ago since i posted on this thread.

Karrie, my thoughts are with you. Hope you are feeling a touch better now. It would be great to hear from you.

Emma, how are you? Well done for posting your toiletery list on here. It's good to have a list so that you know what you have got and hopefully it will stop you from buying things that you don't need. I am putting aside a £1 for every item that I use up. Do you do anything like that? The toiletery challenge is definetely helping me to spend less. Since january all i have bought is cotton wool pads. Eventhough I am now thinking about buying a facial mask from Clarins since mine has nearly run out. Have you been to L yet? If you go I can recommend their cream soap (handwash) by Cien. I use their aloe vera soap and I think it was 35 pence and its fab to use.

I am fine apart from having a cold. My OH and I are off to Barcelona next weekend and I cannot wait to go. For the second month in a row I am not using my overdraft so it has helped me to be part of this challenge so that i am living within my means. I am aiming to save another £10 this month.

    All the best.

    Becky
