  • Hi All.

Sounds like everyone are perserveering despite the January blues. I have done a lot less OT this week - 2 hours, which Ive just remembered I havent had authorised (D'oh!), just tired after the 6 day wk w/2 12 hour shifts last week. Unfortunately this week OT on offer is down too and there are more people coming and less work...definitely motivation to get OT whilst I can.

Just 7 days til pay day , have been out last night - Bella Italia 2 for 1 and Vue Student Discount so meal, ticket and popcorn = £15, though petrol brought me back to Earth with the saved pennies going to Waitrose not me. Have been measuring how far petrol would go - filled up from empty light and I made 9 return trips to work then had to put some in for extenuating circs but kept an eye and think it would have gone another return, definitely a single so thats £50 every 2 weeks if prices stay the same (I know, fat chance).

Cant wait for a real influx of money even if i cant save much if any at first.

So...pay day finally came around! Have transferred £600 into my savings manually and will have my usual £419 SO in to there on Monday too so I'm pleased with myself...not a bad start to the New Year!

Plus, I went into town today and bought NOTHING! Not even jewellery from my favourite accesories shop in their 70% off sale! Think I've changed...:rotfl:
  • Well done Timbear that's fantastic!!!! You are definatley going to hit your 5k target at this rate!!!
2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)
  • Payday came, I received my first Payslip..still nothing in my account! Not happy. I also just signed up for the company gym membership, stupidly missed a return date (only £13) and went out for dinner. This month I am not going to get out of my OD and if I do I will soon be back in it BUT bear in mind I have had a total 5 weeks of 2 day PT wages and maybe £300 JSA since my last Student Loan installment from June 2010.

This saving includes my bonus which I will not be getting another of for at least a year so it's most unlikely I can save this amount each month but I'm happy with the start to 2011!
  • Jennie - How awful not getting paid; that happened to me the last couple of months - not happy! Hope yours gets sorted soon. Just keep chipping away at the OD - after all Rome wasn't built in a day.

I'm currently helping my OH clear his OD - a total of £1,400. Eek! Hoping we can have that clear in about six months, fingers crossed. Good luck with clearing yours; you will get there!

Then to work on his loan (c.£10k).

I'm hoping my new savings mindset, or just generally being far more aware of my finances and where I can cut back on wasted purchases etc, will spur him on and rub off on him. Seems to be doing the trick so far!
  • Hi All,

    Hope you are all ok.

I am very happy as I have managed to get a permanent job in HR. It is a drop in pay to get back into that industry, but I don't mind having a second job. On the plus side, as it is in the city centre, I will be getting the bus in as opposed to petrol & parking expenses.

Just need to revise my budget to accomodate salary as my current boss is being funny about me keeping on a Saturday shift - basically he has the hump because I have submitted my notice.

    See you all soon xx

    So...

I thought I had done better than I really have! I now have £1561 in savings - but considering that I have £1,019 at the start of the year, not so great!

I did have insurance and road tax to pay for the year, however, which took a chunk of savings. Not too sure why I haven't managed to save more though over the last four months.

Anyway, I should be able to save around £790 on May pay day all being well which will get me back on track and feeling more optimistic!

    How is everyone else doing?

it taken ages to save what i have, esp at the moment as im going away to new zealand for a month and am saving like mad to get the money back up as ive had to take 2 weeks unpaid and need to ensure the bills are coverd too. it taken years to save for such a big thing, will take the same for the next big venure and in the mean time id like get my savings up and have bought a digital camera, could do with a new mobile, a short break or two, plus others bits?
