Good news about finishing your kitchen! I'm in rented accommodation at the moment but would LOVE to be able to rip the kitchen out here and put in a new one! One can dream...hehe.

Well, update. I have today paid off my loan one year early so my savings have reduced significantly since I last posted (down £1200, ouch!). However, I'm now debt free and so happy! :j

Saving again to top up my pitiful £110 left in my savings' account begins on January 28th when I next get paid. Should be able to put around £1k in there due to a bonus from work so very pleased with myself!

    Hi all!

Welcome to all the newbies. It's great to have you on board. You are all doing so well.

Congratulations to TimBear for paying off your loan a year early. Good luck with your saving target for this year.

Needhelpsaving, great to hear that your kitchen is now done and well done for organising a 0% CC on your boiler.

Also, congratulation to Jennie-1987. Hope you got on well at work during your first day.

Emma, hope the work with the boiler and the watertank will go smoothly. When does the work start? Also, congratulations to your payrise, however small its always nice to get a bit more. Hope you are happy with your new haircut and colouring. I am having my haircut next weekend and I am sooo looking forward to it.

This was my first week back at work since Christmas Eve and its been tough being back at work but I am sure that I am not the only one feeling like that. I managed to spend very little over Christmas and New Year so tomorrow I shall put aside another £220 into my ISA account so I am off to get a great start this year.

Hope to hear from you soon again.

Congrats on being debt-free; surely better with saving interest rates being lower than loan interest rates.

£110 is not pitiful - its a fortune in Primark, smaller fortune in Matalan and would make you sick in Pick 'n' Mix. Though of course itll be amazing if you can increase it ten fold this month.
Hey girlies - I was beginning to think I smelt as no one replied for ages . . . . lol.

Good to see you all back. Kitchen is done and looks great (even if I do say so myself). Have big MSE plans this year, paying off my boiler I had to get a loan as I am not as organised as Emma!!! I have saved £100 this month and have moved the boiler loan to a 0% CC (16 months) - I think that's my MS for the month!!!

Hi to the newbies Timbear and Jennie (may I say 1987 was a great year . . . vintage!!!)

Heres to 2011, may it be an MSE year for all!!!! L x

Hi! You're totally right about 1987 (have you ever noticed its the answer to a lot of 'what was the year these songs/movies were released?' segments?).

I think your opinion matters most on your new kitchen lol happy its all turned out great for you and youve taken care of your boiler with the MS move.

Hi Becky, thanks for the congrats - very exciting having a ft perm job in a very very good company and these 3 days have definitely gone as well as i could have hoped. Apparently the overtime is amazing especially as you progress on the team and the word 'bonus' has been said though dont know much more about it yet. So, yeah just getting into it and waiting desperately as its 3 weeks until pay day. Oh and Martin Lewis actually came up in training!!

Wow that is a really good saving over the festive period, and over New Year its kinda like a jumpstart so you dont have to wait for your first pay to build your 2011 savings pot.

    Hooray for 2011 MS!!

Thank you! You're right, it's more than some have I'm sure and it's a new year, new start. I'm just pleased to finally be debt free! It's such a good feeling :j

I am an '87 baby, and yeh it is hard to get a perm job atm - shockingly so, Ive taken it with a view to not returning to uni atm as it is such a good opportunity. My studying/employment history has been a bit more complex then some so right now a steady job with great opportunity to progress and save some money doing overtime etc. is amazing.

Thanks Needhelpsaving! It was only a loan, don't yet have a mortgage hehe.

I'm also an '87 baby...seems a popular year to have been born on this forum!

Oh wow, that's a brilliant over time rate! I can no longer claim for OT at work which is a bit of a shame.

Just had confirmation of my bonus from work today...£714! Not as much as I had hoped to achieve but I'm still pleased and this means I can save around £1200 at the end of the month which will boost my savings pot back to where it was almost before I paid off my loan. Very pleased!

Yeh its amazing, its not that high all the time but the other OT hours this week are £20 ph :D just finished 12 hour shift but it was so worth it! And will do another hour friday, thinking about maybe going in another hour earlier - making 10 hours on friday but wouldnt affect my end time so still good.

That is a great bonus, like quadruple what Ive been hearing (on the ground obvs Ive heard much higher for bosses of banks - boo). Congratulations, youve been doing a good job and hopefully makes you feel more valued as well as secure in it. Your savings pot will already be four digits in January...so jealous.
