  • The stress simply isn't worth it.

Does that and the change of sig imply that you have fallen off the wagon?
Today is the first day of the rest of your life

    LOL pretty much yes :o

I did save quite a lot of money though - and I only drink on weekend now (and when I have had a particularly stressful day)

    How about you???
  • How about you???

Tomorrow always seems a good day to start! :o

Seriously though other dates have come and gone for a variety of reasons but 1st December seems a good day to start. I'll let you know how I get on.

Good on you for doing as well as you did

I would say 1st Jan would be easier - you wont get through Xmas without it!

I dont know how it works, but yes we could prove there was no work for him - he simply helps on jobs - anything specific that he is given usually has to be done again due to mistakes. We could easily do without him! in fact they would probably get more done.

Doesn't sound like you are training him but using him as a labourer.

How have you managed to work that out from the posts that I have made? that is a pointless post if ever I saw one.

I have never mentioned what he does

    When you said this

" he simply helps on jobs - anything specific that he is given usually has to be done again due to mistakes"

Surely a good teacher would not get someone to 'help on jobs', they would show them how to do it and get them to rectify their own mistakes.

If I can pick up your mistakes, so will a tribunal. Good luck, you'll need it.

What on earth are you talking about??? what 'mistakes'???

The point I was trying to make was that he doesn''t have a specific job to do, he just helps on the jobs that are being done. They don't do the same thing over and over again - they work in different places each day.

There is nothing wrong with his training - my 6 year old son manages to learn things from his Dad, who has been a joiner for 25 years and is extremely good at his job.

And for the record if I wanted a labourer, I would get a labourer - I am paying this Apprentice minimum wage to get his Apprenticeship - free training plus a pretty good wage too - why would I do that to get a 'labourer'?

If you can't help with the original question, mind your own business.

    Please.

Apprentices aren't meant to have specific jobs, they are meant to be learning the trade.
