that makes 90%...but the court ruling said only 70% do...?

    4 out of 5 is 80%
  • This is truly sickening, one day after we learned that 62 billion pounds of our money was given to RBS and HBOS in secret without our permission.

    Lent not given!
  • I thought it was interesting re. Gordon Browns comments that the government owned banks are reducing their charges. I bank with Natwest (subsidiary of RBS) and received an email this afternoon advising of changes to the terms and conditions of my current account - and yes - all bank charges have been drastically reduced to "fairer" levels. Perhaps through competition this will force other banks to do the same, although sadly it looks like reclaming historic charges may not be possible.

I am not fan of the Labour government but I think it is only fair to pont out that that they seem to have made some changes in this respect.

hey what a about mobile contract late fees or plumber charges are they fair?
  • If you don't like the bank you could withdraw your pay in payday and work without the bank for the rest of the week/month.

I'm a big fan of Martin Lewis but this website seems to have built up people's hopes unnecessarily. I think speeding tickets are unfair, they don't cost £60 to administer and I don't know that I was speeding. Parking tickets are unfair. Excess baggage charged at airports is unfair. Subsidising the unemployed is unfair.

Life ain't fair and sometimes we have to accept it ain't fair.

It would be useful if you could point out the statute which says that you have a human right not to have a bank account ;)

What's the alternative??? My employer can't pay me cash, they're 200 miles away from me. It would be impossible for me to go to all my creditors and pay my bills with cash they're all over the country. I have no choice!!!
  • It kind of annoys me when people talk of "giving our money to banks" - just a complete over simplificaiton. No one wants to see tax payers money used in this way but what was the alternative? A complete failure of the banking system? To those who would say let it fail.. then think about how you would get paid, pay bills and all the rest. A significant proportion of the money used to bail out the banks will be recouped anyway throuh sales of shares in the future (lets not forget the government paid near rock bottom prices for shares in the nationailised banks).
