Nah! I'm sure you'll figure it out, eventually0 -
Which bit of this did neither of you understand?
I would be interested to see a computer programme that was able to predict how much money would be in an individuals account at the exact moment a DD payment is taken, especially if it could also inform the account holder at the exact same time
im not saying the prog should "predict the amount in the account"....:rolleyes2
and TBH i think you are being pedantic.
what i mean is if the bank can set up a system where it texts me to say "phone this premium rate number as we wish to talk to you about you account", then surely it can set up an outlook type program that will inform them as to inform me that i have debits in the next couple of days (if in danger of going into "unauthorised overdraw" or that i have "insufficent fees" to pay if said DD or SO is not paid on time? its only 20p fopr a text innit? therefore that is well within the "price " of the "service/services" provided by my current account at the "free banking rate/model"?0 -
that is and always has been the crux of the problem, that it isnt reasonable or fair!!
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE BANKING BECAUSE SOME CUSTOMERS ARE ALWAYS SUBSIDISED BY OTHER CUSTOMERS!! NOT ALWAYS A FAULT OF THEIR OWN.
think of all the people that pay for banking via goldman sachs, they are just a high street bank under a different name.
I dont agree with high charges, but after all people have to learn to budget.0 -
I cant believe this I heard it on my car radio and i had to pull over because I was so angry. These banks are like Robin Hood in reverse stealing from the poor to give to the rich.
The charges I faced was not a result of overspending the first one that they robbed from me was when i was on jobseekers allowance and they decided to stop my money because of a stupid theory they came up with that I had bought a car purely so i could claim jobseekers and as a result my account went overdrawn and they were informed about the purchase when I originally put the claim in and they told me there was no problem with that and I took their word for it. I got another when my paypacket went in a little bit later than usual which again was not my fault.
The majority of the charges that they robbed from me were mainly as a result of being a victim of fraud. I did eventually get that cash that was fraudulently stolen back but not before the charges had gone out of control. Them banks owed me just under £600 in total from the past 6 years which is more than I get paid in a month. The most annoying thing is that if I robbed £35 from someone else then I would be in trouble with the police for theft yet they can get away with it.0 -
Poor Martin...he was wrong!0

I do not pay bank charges. Banks give me money to bank with them. Cashback credit cards earn me £100s every year. I still think bank charges are unfair.
Would I mind paying for my bank account? Not really, it would be normal.
However, if the case had gone the other way, that would have been the end of it. We have to accept court rulings as otherwise there would be no point having courts of law. Then we need to work within the law to bring about change.
I'd support a move to boycott a bank. Then another bank. Then another.
GGThere are 10 types of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those that don't.0 -
i dont agree with high charges but people learn to budget....
thats just it, it doesnt matter about the "name of the bank".
the fact the charges are high, doesnt mean we "have to learn to budget"
not if they are not reasonable and fair0 -

The point is the banks have spent ridiculous money on IT, I know, I was there installing the emergency power when the Halifax upgraded there centre several years ago, I asked, a lot of questions of the IT guys, and got some interesting answers.
The point is the banks could do a lot more, but it is not in thier intrest too
...exactly what i said!!0 -

Crikey...£3,000 over 9 years... surely when she saw that the bank was debiting before crediting she would change the days when the money came out/in to ensure the credit was avalaible? did it take 9 years to do this?
No money? Yet a rack of DVD's behind her? and IPOD docking station and a nice home.
