Absolutely agree. What you also need to remember is on these boards and on the ebay community boards there are some vocal people who have had problems on ebay. You need to think how many people actually buy and sell there and realise that very few actually have much problem and there is a huge number who happily and successfully trade with no problems
We have maybe 1/200 sales that goes wrong, but it's the 1 not the 199 that we moan about.
We've still to get even one negative feedback, and are on a rate of 1 neutral a year.
So anyone who is reading this and is nervous about selling on ebay, well it's not that hard, and with common sense, safe enough. This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

eBay fees are a con, plus the fact you're forced to specify free P&P for a lot of items now. I listed a load of gear this weekend as we're moving home. I don't want to make loads of money out of it but just a few quid whilst clearing some space. I was forced to increase the starting bid for each item to make up for the free postage, which of course ebay charge more for!
Once we move home I'm not going to bother with eBay again, it's all geared towards the buyers instead of sellers which is wrong
There are other sites like ebid that are geared up entirely towards sellers, obviously though nothing sells there because there are no bidders.
Ebay are right to focus on bidders, that's who buys our stuff

Isn't that what shops/commerce is about
You can make everything in the sellers favour if you want but without customers you are nothing. Ebid is a prime example
Yes but if sellers are put off from listing their items due to high fees then they'll be nothing to buy! They have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson

Good luck in finding somewhere else where you can sell items that are too expensive to sell on ebay.
Come on. I have read so many of your posts in favour of ebay, I'm beginning to think that ebay can do no wrong at all.
Just admit it please. You are on the board of directors of ebay, arent you? I can then sleep better at night, knowing that at least you are being transparent.
Fact: Ebay have a huge say in the online auction world.
Fact: Because of their huge dominence they can do pretty well what they please.
Fact: Ebay is now all in favour of the buyer (not the seller) even though some ebayers pay thousands of pounds a year in fees.
Fact: More sellers dislike ebay than like ebay, but feel they have little choice but to use them until another 'big hitter' comes along!!!

OK so realistically then where do we sell all our stuff?
Seriously, I will not give up selling on ebay while I cna still turn a profit, when that changes then I'll probably give up selling online completely as apart from specialist sites like Amazon there is no other place to sell.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As any retail organisation is. If you make it difficult to buy people won't buy. So no customers does not make a successful business
*Simples*
Ebay is a success because buyers feel protected and are confident in buying there. There are far more happy sellers and buyers than the few who moan on the boards and keep suggesting a Strike:rotfl:
Yes ebay charge fees work out the costs of setting up your own ecommerce site and get the same worldwide exposure and number of hits ebay gets. It will cost you more money and take years to build up0 -

There are many places on and off the net, like you well know, but not with the same coverage ebay has. But that doesn't make them a good company. It certainly doesn't mean all they say, and do, is right. The small minority of sellers who have yet to notice this, really need to wake up and smell the coffee (this isn't aimed at you). Personally if the likes of Google or Microsoft took them on head to head, this would be great for all. Whether it will happen I don't know??? In the meantime whilst ebay are being 'greedy' more and more people will try and find other ways of selling and by passing them. One item I sell is coins. I set up a website and with every coin I sell the buyer gets my direct details. I have gone from selling a few coins to hundreds from my website, from buyers of ebay. There are many others ways sellers are trying to bypass ebay.
Oh and before anybody else says anything. Yes I am a business seller. I do declare income. I do have over 99% feeddback.
Kind Regards

I agree it doesn't make them a good company, but it works for me both as a bsuiness seller and a private seller. I also have my items listed on 4 other sites and apart from Amazon I rarely, if ever, sell anything on them.
For me it is a necessary evil, like buying petrol. I really object to the cost but it doesn't stop me using it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
