Thats good then it means Free P&P is having the desired effect and stopping people listing anything for free just on the off chance it may sell. All the 99p listings did was bring overall sale prices down.
People seem to forget they were only brought in in march and before that people had to pay for sub £1 listings. What short memories everyone has0 -
seems to me that by enforcing free p&p and therefore making the seller raise their starting price ebay rake more money in as there are no final fees on postage. also with paypal. so they rape you both ways!!!0

My OP is just about my surprise in the large fee increases on ebay that have occured in the last year or so. For me personally, large enough to look elsewhere in future to sell stuff, rather than automatically think "I'll stick them on ebay" as I have been doing for the last 7 or so years.
The rise in fees and the new PS/TS issues has meant thousands of high volume PS have moved away from ebay and have spent the money saved on their own sites and advertising. Myself included.
This will, eventually, hit ebay and they will again raise their fees to make up the shortfall.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -
Buyers can get significant cashback from eBay if they use Quidco. Might be worth looking into.0

do you think ebay is still worth using for the small seller just for making a little pocket money i wondered about selling some kids clothes which wouldn't reach high prices but with postage prices and fees would it be worth it do you think there would still be buyers for these items,or is ebay only encouraging sellers of higher cost items now.0

i dont sell anymore , not to post anyway, only pick up only. too many people to bend you over and do you dry. seriously , even with using recorded delivery and doing tghngs y the book, if a buyer wants to scam you paypal will always side with them. so its not just fees your down, its p&p, listing fees, final value fees, payapl fees, your money and your item. Ebay is disgusting to people wanting to make a few quid0

As long as you work out Margins before hand. If you have things that will sell its still worth it for small sellers.. My Non business account I frequently list items worth less than £10 and manage to make small profits. Its better a small amount of money than throwing them or giving them away for nothing as far as i'm concerned.
There seems to be this huge Paranoia about scammers etc. With most people I know we all have difficult buyers at points. The most important points is to make your listing/description as accurate as possible and know both Paypal/ebay procedures rules. If your listing sounds like you don't know what your doing you will attract them.
What you also need to remember is on these boards and on the ebay community boards there are some vocal people who have had problems on ebay. You need to think how many people actually buy and sell there and realise that very few actually have much problem and there is a huge number who happily and successfully trade with no problems0 -

These rumours hit everytime ebay make a change. There's plenty of people around to take those leaving place. A lot of those who leave come back as they realise getting the exposure that ebay gives for there own site is more expensive
What makes me laugh is on the business ebay boards you have powersellers stating that the new rules are against them and make it easier for private sellers and on other boards you have private sellers stating the opposite!
The majority of business and private sellers just work with the new rules and get on with it. 0 -

I find the use of the word disgusting a little odd. Anyway, surely with collection only you are running a huge risk with paypal? I personally am more than happy to sell on ebay and ship my items, however I have stopped selling collection only items unless they are cheap enough for me to take a loss and not have it affect me too badly.grannytwice wrote: »do you think ebay is still worth using for the small seller just for making a little pocket money i wondered about selling some kids clothes which wouldn't reach high prices but with postage prices and fees would it be worth it do you think there would still be buyers for these items,or is ebay only encouraging sellers of higher cost items now.

eBay fees are a con, plus the fact you're forced to specify free P&P for a lot of items now. I listed a load of gear this weekend as we're moving home. I don't want to make loads of money out of it but just a few quid whilst clearing some space. I was forced to increase the starting bid for each item to make up for the free postage, which of course ebay charge more for!
Once we move home I'm not going to bother with eBay again, it's all geared towards the buyers instead of sellers which is wrongThey have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson
