  • Its not that, Thats more a restriction on the seller, Paypal have no problem with me, its the buyers funds they are holding for 'investigation'.

Just abit annoying but I suppose that's their security checks. Will have to wait and see.

Isn't 'robbery' something without prior knowledge, surely the fees are there to be seen, so you agree to them when you list.

I'd probably say that an iphone is a good example of something you probably wouldn't need to sell on Ebay.

  • I have many Xbox 360 games that I want to sell. Having done a bit of research on what the going-rate is for these games I was about to list them and then...

I saw that you cannot charge postage. I would rather keep the games than have to soak up all the fees / postage. I was shocked as the last time I sold this wasn't in place.

Ebay seems more interested in businesses selling on there than the people that made it what it is. Large online retailers can absorb postage more easily than us mere mortals.

Oh well, they can gather dust on my shelf.

Personally if I don't want something then I would rather sell it and get a few pounds than keep it and let it devalue down to pennies just to make a point.

You could always try Amazon of course, but their fees may well be higher.

Just add the postage to your start price. Whats the big problem? That way at least you'll get some money. Sitting on your shelves you might as well just throw them in the bin. Cutting off your nose to spite your face springs to mind
  • Not really. Games can always be played again. I only want to sell them if I get something of consequence back and not line the coffers of Ebay and Paypal whilst effectively giving something away.

People don't bid unless you start low so I cannot add it to the starting price.

I sell some items on ebay and that is where they realise the best prices for said item. The fees are ott but they are there for you to see before you list your wares. You are paying for the likes of people not supplying items and then doing a runner, so the buyer is covered for non supplied items. There is no real competition for ebay and they know it, try the local free ads and people want to pay peanuts. Certain items like used vehicles etc if reasonably priced will do as well in the local paper but there are still a lot of things that you have to take a gamble with on ebay. F w i w I don't think an I phone is one of them ??
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
  • i have just gone to sell some belts on ebay that i have had sitting around for ages, but as i went to list them, i realised i had to list them with free p&p which as one of the belts weighs over 200g it would cost £1.60 to post!!! i alway list my items at 99p to avoid paying the insertion fee, but they usually sell for that too. This would mean i would would OWE 60p plus all the fees that are added on. I thought about upping the price to cover the cost but items aren't selling in this price range and the risk of it not selling and me still having to pay anything regardless of how little it may be is to much 4 me so i will take my bussiness else where from now on.

i think people will pay the postage as they know we have to but when you add it to the price of the item it make it look expensive and not worth looking at!

Good luck in finding somewhere else where you can sell items that are too expensive to sell on ebay.

I think eBay are OK, yes the fees have gone up but it is better than trading the items in or part exchange.

I recently took all my old camera equipment to Jessops as I want a new camera. They offered my £550 trade in against the new camera for the 7 items. I have just sold them all on eBay and after paying all the listing/FVF fess and Paypal fees I have still cleared £2000, so I am a very happy bunny as this means my new camera is only going to cost me £300.
