sagem freeview boxes are really crap, and im pretty sure my one is dangerous. When i plug in the power cable you often see a bright blue spark.

With Sagem you really get what you pay for

    avoid at all costs

Lord_chris - thats not my experience of these boxes as you can see by this thread. "Pretty crap" clearly DOESNT apply to all. Nice positive post though

twe - I was in Argos yesterday and these were definitely £27.99 as per my previous post- even a big display in the window advertising this. Is there extra discount attached to the code in your post???

That's the same for any device with a switch mode power supply - most things these days. If you can't see the spark it's simply because the way the connector is physically arranged blocks your view of it. If you must use a connector as a switch (none of these devices are actually switched off when in standby) then use the 13A plug, not the measly figure-of-eight connector on the other end.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

But they are low voltage with the transformer plugging directly into the 13amp plug like a mobile phone charger so I don't see how you can get this kind of problem or is it a different model than being talked about here.
