You won't find a fan on a Freeview-only box. Or if you do, don't buy it!

    Hi All

A quick update to my original post. I installed the Sagem freeview box tonight and it's perfect!!!

The picture quality is fab and its really easy to use. Actually think its better than my big freeview box I spent £50 on.

If you can get freeview in your area, I would definitely recommend it

    Hope this helps

I have two of these an ITD58 and an ITD60, the 58 is the most basic in the range.

I bought mine for £19 from richer sounds (graded).

Out of stock on the web but most stores have them.

The ITD60 is better in that it has RF modulation meaning you can have freeview on a tv without a scart (via the RF plug), very few boxes have this feature which can keep non scart TV's working after switch off.

They are silent, very small and never lock up. You really can't go wrong with these but remember they are basic.

I've never seen one with a fan either, but Regmir said earlier that they were noisy...

Could be noise through the speaker? The ITD60 had a known problem of being supplied with the wrong pal settings when being used through RF modulation, you need to go into setup and change the pal settings over to stop the noise.

from experience some of them make squeeling noises (a high pitched noise like a dog whistle) this is usually some sort of induction coil on the circuit board that hasnt been glue gunned properly to stop it vibrating, or its the aerial socket with a similar problem.

The offer began about 2 weeks ago, and continues until they run out of stock so not linked to fathers day. Price is still £20!

(p.s. mine is still working perfectly!)

Yep - seen that one but there isn't a TJ Hughes near me so by the time I add postage it comes up to the same price as the Amazon one (which has free postage). Having had good service from Amazon in the past I'd be biased towards ordering from them if I was to mail order a box. Ideally I'd like to get one locally so that I could take it back if there was anything wrong with it. Thanks for the pointer though.
