Thank you sooo much for that! Can't believe I didn't think of getting some of that transfer stuff!!! (How un MSE of me not to think of doing it myself!!!) Do you know if the colours show up on darker coloured fabrics or do I need to get some light coloured pants to make it show up?

Thank you again! Genius! (If only there was a thanks x100!)

Normal transfer needs a white background but you can get special ones for Dark Material. I've got them from WHSmith and Staples before. Those ones you can do white text etc print on black fabric.
  • This is an absolutely genius thread, especially for those pesky men in our lives who can be so bl**dy difficult to buy for! Fortunately my dad is quite easy to buy for, but i always struggle with other male relatives. Here's what i'm getting my dad this year:

HDMI upscaling dvd player (split between him and mum) - £20 for his half
knee pads for the garden - £4.99 from TK Maxx
Hidden Places of Ireland - £8.47 from amazon
The Last Days of Henry VIII - £2 from bargain books
The Best of Tommy Cooper - £5 from HMV (still to get)
Total: £40.46 - i'm quite pleased by this as i'd budgeted £50 for him and £50 for mum. I've spent a bit more on mum so will probably get something else for dad.

I always struggle with the people who used to look after me when my mum worked (they became like a second family to me, so i will refer to him as 2nd dad) He's a nightmare to buy for - only thing he is really into is football and golf. he has everything you could think of for golf and is not interested in football related things - just loves to watch it!! i have thought about getting him some macwet gloves though :D

Does he have a sense of humour? Maybe you could make him a football watching hamper? With his favourite beer/drink, nuts, scarf for his team, whistle so he can play ref and one of those joke remote controls (or a real all-4-1 remote control) to stop his wife changing channel?

Or if he has Sky you could make up a gift certificate to go with a cheque paying for Sky Sports for a month or 2.
  • In the past we have gone a bit mad on each other but last year finances were a bit tight due to not selling our old house, so set a limit of £50. Having sold it in the summer I was expecting DH to want to go burserk again this year but he agreed to keep to the £50:T So this year he is getting
    Ashes 2009 book £9.99
    2 books from a car boot £2
    2 x Cd's £9.99 each
    Toblerone £2
Angeline Jolie calander £6.99 (tradition. I get a George Clooney 1)
Block of marzipan that I will make into a train shape £1.50
Personalised Steam train mug £8.49 (thanks to someone on this thread)

    Total £51

thanks for these ideas, have just ordered the where's the stig book and it looks like a c**k book from amazon, after reading this thread!

apart from that have bought extras box set (bargain at 7.99!), little britain live dvd (£1.85), michael mcintyre dvd to take advantage of the 500 bonus clubcard points from tesco, bill bailey's tinselworm for 2.99, and a tshirt from the hut for a couple of quid.

not really sure what to get him at all to be honest, but have ended up with a load of dvds now cos they all looked like a good bargain!!

I noticed that there are a few threads asking for ideas. So how about starting one for what we have bought for our partners/hubbies etc etc so that it might give others some ideas.

My hubby is football mad. We had a limit of £50 as we are very skint this year. I have made everyone some presents, but i still had to but him some stuff. SO i have get the below:-

Shoot Annual - £3.96. I buy him one every year.
Pixarpedia - £14.28. Its about how they made the Pixar films. Hubby loves Finding Nemo, Toy Story etc etc
Coin Counting Money Jar - £7.83
I Before E, Except after C - £4.99. Hubby is a teacher and would love reading this.
Leather Braclet - £8 off Ebay
Football T-shirt for his fave team (like a normal printed t-shirt, not a football replica shirt) - £12
    Fifa World Football Records 2010 - £9.49

So, i think i'm at the total at the moment.

What have your bought/planning to buy for the men in your life. You never know, you might just save someone some hair pulling when all they say when asked what they want is "i dont know" gggrrr. :rotfl:

PS - i had found all the links to the above items, but i'm not allowed to post links yet.

Where did you get the pixarpedia book from at this price, please? Have you recieved it yet, would you recommend it?
  • dh has so far; and still to get;
    -foo fighters cd
    -pimp cup
    -guitar book and dvd set
    -stand for guitar
-cleaning solutions for guitar (exciting presents eh?!)
-shaving set with mirror for the bathroom
-electric guitar book and dvd set
-milk tray (the big puff, he loves them!)
    -take that cd
-total guitar magazine subscription although i think i may buy him the magazine everymonth as i have £8.50 in tesco points, then £5 is showing already to be sent in febs statement. im hoping by feb i will have the £18.50 needed in points to get it then, or failing that i should def have them by july for his birthday.

    and thats his lot!
