Interesting perspective from the horses mouth, about some of the difficult choices we can face at christmas, & potentially through the rest of the year. Direct from the horses mouth.
This story tells you a lot about the impact of borrowing for christmas.
Having worked in housing, I wish the story was bigger. Every year we had meetings in which one agenda was to design a "pay your rent over christmas" type poster. Look around, & you'll probably notice that most HA's & LA's do one. They also target a load of tenants who have arrears above a certain level & write to them to remind them not to cease payments just because it is christmas.

It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

I think its heartbreaking - but as far as the vulture loan companies - I would take everything they will lend, not repay a penny and then declare bankruptcy.
They charge that much to cover defaulters so it would be a shame not to use the service you've been charged for.0 -

thats disgraceful what Provident Financial are doing.
They are no better than dodgy loan sharks.
It is very sad to hear of people in these situations, but more often than not, if they'd just learn to say 'no thanks' in the first place they wouldn't be in these situations.
On a lighter note, that fella in the picture must be able to get some seasonal work as an Elf, with those ears, surely !!??Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

Have to say that provident, though their rates appear high (to those who can access cheaper credit) Generally do behave well & are fair. Plus, when an adviser contacts them on behalf of a client, & sets up a repayment plan, there is no additional interest, & no additional charges.
I'm not a fan of them, but for some it is the only form of credit they can get. Gota give (no pun intended) credit where it is due. There are worse out there - greenwoods, shopacheck etc. Hell, google quick quid, scroll down to the typical APR at the bottom of the page & have a real fright! That is some scary stuff.
Personally, I'd like to see a real surge in credit unions over the next 12 motnhs. Get everyone using them. 12% loans for many!
Hello Inspector. I'm surprised to have not had any abuse from you in respect of a footballing sense. I had my fingers crossed yesterday you may have kirkland as a keeper!;)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Injured 1st game against WHU. Hasn't got fit again yet.
Doyle rested for the brummies.
Keeper had a poor game.
Defence back off instead of putting in a challenge.
Although it is early, we're getting make or break games before christmas.
Time to go 4-4-2, do what we do best, & take the game to blues, bolton & burnley at home (with away to spurs & man u inbetween!)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

We haven't done so well against London teams so far...
I'm still optimistic we can survive, but that could really change between now & christmas.

you have to pay your rent before you buy anything for xmas. if you don't pay rent, the LA or HA should throw you out on the street if they see you have bought presents or are eating turkey.
these people make me sick. PAY UP DEADBEATS. rent comes before anything else.0 -
The law needs to change in this country in favour of Landlords (and btw, I am not a landlord). If someone rents out property and rent is not paid, the landlord should be able to kick the tenant out immediately, as soon as they are late.
furthermore, if the landlord has a house that is empty, and a squatter comes along, the squatter should have zero rights. the police should throw them out immediately.
what is wrong with this country?0
