Tesco 'parking helpline' (moronic oxymoron)

How could anyone trust Teso that they had in fact passed over any of the money to that charity? How do we know that the PPC and Tesco haven't kept it for themselves?
Tesco haven't exactly redeemed themselves in terms of honourability and truthfulness over on the other thread.
Why not contact the charity and ask them?
I'm sure if Tesco were not donating any money to their elected charity of the year but keeping it to themselves, the charity would not wish to be associated with such an organisation.

Edit: it's more than an association, the charity refer to it as a partnership!"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

How exactly is the charity to know how much Tesco hasn't passed over to them from the parking scam?Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
The meager proportion of revenue from this that Tesco receives if it goes into profit may well go to charity. the lion's share ends up in the hands of the Parking Company. I guarantee that this does not go to charity. Howver it is good of tesco to admit that they are party to the activity and so have liability. All profits from Tesco car parking charges are donated to the Tesco Charity of the year.
Why would Tesco be publically accountable, other than the requirement to publish company accounts? You can order these from companies house if you want
If they wish to have clear and usable method of detering long stay parking they should adopt the Waitroise model which gives free parking and reasonable rising costs cost scale based on time. Very clear signage. barriers on Entry and Exit when used. Exit from the car park attended by Waitrose employees, tickets given out upon entrance, stamped at the till and supplied on exit.
No parking company makes money this way.
This cures abuse, the charges are reasonable and enforcable so this model is of no interest to Private Parking Companies.0 -
My local Tesco car park is free and unmanned and I have to report that we do not have any parking issues there.
Regarding the discussion on other threads about the charges Tesco makes in some of their car parks if you overstay your allocated time, "Premier" in particular has claimed that the wording on their signs is carefully chosen to make sure Tesco stay the right side of the law, so that you are in fact being invoiced for staying beyond the "contracted" time you implicitly accepted when you entered the carpark.
However recent postings on another forum (consumer forum) demonstrate that Tesco may not be as up to speed on the law in this area as they might think.
Kirsten Callan, Tesco Customer Service Executive, wrote to a Mrs M in November (who complained about a "charge" for overstaying their time and pointing out she was not the driver in the vehicle concerned )
While I appreciate that you may not have been the driver on the day in question, I must reiterate that as the registered owner, you are responsible for any fines and charges implemented on the vehicle.
OK first of all as anyone who reads any parking forums knows, this is just plain wrong and either Kirsten Callan is misinformed about the law (must do better Tesco legal team) or she is simply not telling the truth. The person liable for any charge or fine is the driver, not the owner and the owner is under no legal obligation to state who the driver was.
Anyway Mrs M pointed this out to Tesco and got back the reply:
Having spoken with UKPC once more, I can confirm that they will be transferring liability to the driver on this occasion.
This is of course equally wrong, from a legal standpoint as Mrs M pointed out. The saga continued as tesco then replied:
I can confirm that, in following the British Parking Association Code of
Conduct, UKPC will contact the registered owner/keeper to advise them of any parking contravention, and to advise that they are seeking payment of an outstanding parking charge incurred by the driver.
This notice gives the owner the opportunity to advise then if they were not the registered owner/keeper or driver at the time, and if this is the case, who was.
In this case, as UKPC are aware of who the driver was at the time, they have agreed to transfer liability to them.
As advised previously, there is nothing further that I can add, and trust
that I have now answered your questions.
Kind Regards
Tesco Customer Services
Mrs M then reports: My husband received a parking charge demand from UKPC yesterday! Although he was not the driver either. How wrong can they be! They again request me to name the driver, yet, they then state they know!!!
Tesco do use PPCs including in this case, UKPC, to patrol their car parks and issue penalty notices/invoices.
Tesco correspondence quoted elsewhere:
Many of our car parks are now operated by Parking Companies, in order to ensure that all of our customers can enjoy a pleasant and safe shopping experience both in store and in the car park.
Another oxymoron!0 -

Would it interest you that in 2 of the 3 local Tesco stores where I live, only one uses the services of an third party to police the car parking.
If the sign above is the one that I posted in the other recent thread, it is from one where Tesco controls their own car parking as far as I understand using their own cameras.
I wouldn't imagine the cost of control would be very expensive - it would, I imagine, be fully automatic providing a list of those vehicles that have been in the car park longer than the specified time.
Edit: here is the sign from my one of my local stores that they control themselves:

It won't. Why are you so cynical to think Tesco wouldn't pass over the profits? How exactly is the charity to know how much Tesco hasn't passed over to them from the parking scam?
They could easily not have such a partnership and I doubt omission of such statement would have little effect on the vast majority of those who choose to park in the store."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Well our tesco recently introduced charging and I have to say its far easier to park and access now that lorry drivers and other commuters don't have the option of using it as a free lorry park or park and ride.
If the ignorant are also giving any sort of cash to charity then all the better.
Theres a very simple solution to these PPC's. Open your eyes and dont take the !!!!. I am sure if people used your property to park on daily at your inconvenience then you would be unhappy. Just look at regular threads on here about people parking on public roads or on drives etc.0 -
Why are Tesco so cynical to think that giving a pittance amount of money to charity would absolve them with regard to scamming people by using illegal PCNs?
I have emailed their Charity of the Year just to make them aware of the current situation regarding Tesco's use of illegal parking tickets.0 -

That's where you are wrong. That number actually belongs to Euro Car ParksWhat part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

They are not scamming people Biscuitdunker? If you believe they are explain how.
And Illegal parking tickets? Can you back this with facts. PPC's are not illegal en masse although many are. Its also worth noting a lot of the get outs are technicalities and often fraudulent.0
