Hello! I thought I'd delurk from this thread
Great achievements Weezl :T I often wondered why you were doing such a tight challenge, with the 50p a day, but felt it would be rude to ask. That comes of joining a thread when it was already up & running and not reading from the beginning I suppose!
This thread looks just as inspiring - thank you for sharing it all.
As a matter of interest with your charitable giving each month - is it a particular charity every time or do you swap & change according to need IYSWIM? I only ask as DH & I try to give to certain charities on a regular basis - not as much now as he lost his job a while ago & hasn't found anything else yet, so our giving has consisted of donations to the charity shops when we have things to pass on, and he is a member of a local Lions group who do all sorts of charitable work for all types of people. What actually upset me was the amount of money that some had on deposit with the Icelandic banks when they collapsed. I was angry even though I understood the need to make money in interest for the greater good of the charity in the long run.
Just wondered if anyone else had any thoughts on this?
Better get on with the Sunday lunch now I'll pop back in later on.0 -
Hi QB, Just wanted to say that BOB has tried a version with half the sugar which met with good reviews from a hoard of teenagers she was feeding
so that might make it even lower in points?
BOB can you tell us more so QB doesn't think I made it up!;)
Yep indeede:D
I used half the sugar and put in some all spice - it smelt beautiful. I used ASDA(value) mixed dried fruit ( i use this in making wedding cakes) you can soak in teabags for extra flavour ( beautiful) i didn't on this occasion and reduced the amount again-simply because of the candy peel in it.(although i picked out what i could see)
All in all the result was a lovely cake, which was moist and tasty, and light. All polished off and requests for more- in fact DD has requested that she can take some in for a break at college:D I have no doubt her friends will be hanging around too:rolleyes:
On another note- she always tests her blood sugars ( DD is diabetic) and hers were in the normal range, showing she had the correct amount....but she would have gone for more if i let her- luckily friends were on hand:rotfl:
Re pregancy cravings- mine was always for chicken and sweetcorn. At one point it was for green tomatoes:rotfl:
Terrible morning sickness with both girls and non at all with my son. Went off caffeine though with all of them and weirdly enough as soon as i had given birth craved a cup of tea:D Things i found helped- peppermint cordial, the strong stuff that you can get from a pub! Calmed everything down- i suppose the herbal tea bags would be ok for that nowadays.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
I have to confess when I was pg I did eat a lot of processed things - pasta ready meals, stuffed pasta, muller rices. things that I could prepare quickly without filling the house with food smells. the good news is that now I can't stand the taste of any of them - so I'll never be tempted to waste money on them again!weaving through the chaos...0

Hello sg!!:DNerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Hmm costings
Pork approx £10
Breadcrumbs free
Smartprice feta £0.79p
half jar sundried toms leftover from christmas £0.90
1/5 jar bevelini peppers £0.20
1/2 tube tomato puree??
Italian seasoning - free from garden
sausage skins approx £1.50
3 teaspoons smoked paprika??
approx £13.50 for all 82 2 will be enough for a person (i still not got the sizing thing right but have mastered the twisting/linking i think) so 16p ish each
next time i am going to try the butchers for minced pork as you waste a lot trimming before mincing so it may work out better to buy ready done and tbh its the mincing thats the faffiest bit as i have a hand mincer
Anyone make burgers ? what cut is best?

oooh al lthe preggo ladies if you are thinking of using reusable nappies, on page 158 of mother and baby mag (2.70) there is a form to fill in to get a free bambino Mio little lamb nappy, it includes nappy insert and wrap, so at least 15.00 in value, and you can opt for microfibre, cotton, or bamboo, and you can opt for 2 diff age ranges 0-9 months or 9- 35 months , one of the women on my birth board has received hers already and she says it is fab, plus alot of others say they ae great little nappies, worth it if you are thinking of going this route, as pre loved ones are more expensive than this and so are the samples.0

Hiya KH, thanks that's brilliant. We did/do use reusables with Fergie, but I have lapsed a little of late because he is on medication which makes his poo super liquid and it escapes worse in a reusable;).
Once Kester is here I plan on renewing my effortsah shaz - those sausages sound so yummy!

Hi phizzimum, great memory you haveyes it finally came on day 11. It is missing a few things though but it seems they have still charged me
I've emailed asking them to look into it. I haven't heard of bad reports about the charging from others though, so it may just be a blip?!
