OS Daily Thread - Monday 23rd November

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Monday 23rd November. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning OS chums.
Chocaholic! It's great to have you with us, and you already sound more OS than me.. :rotfl:
Mioliere - Hope your DH gets over his cold soon.
Ravy - Sorry you have been so poorly - ear infections are such unpleasant things
redruby - Ooooh a big american fridge, and so cheaply.. that is wonderful!
Salopman - nice to see you posting again
PurpleIvy - post whenever you like and whatever mood you happen to be in is Ok with all of us, I am sure.. We are all allowed to have bad days - none of us is superwoman.. (well, with a few notable exceptions of course..
)
Bitsy - I hope you are getting a better nights sleep tonight
Penpen - you are not a dolt!!
PenPin - so sorry to hear your news.. my condolences.
Ivy - Due to my specific problems the car will still cost us £3,600. So despite all our careful paying off of debts etc, we now have to get a loan to cover it. We are lucky to get Motability I know, so am trying to be positive.
Well, apart from sorting some paperwork and eating too many sweet things, I didn't do a lot yesterday, although I spoke to Tristan on the phone for nearly an hour. His dime so I didn't have to worry.. However I kept making him laugh which made him cough which made him have to use his oxygen, but he said he felt better  and it was great to hear him laugh. He is due to log on shortly to messenger, depending on how he feels.
We did have a lovely roast for dinner though and will be having the left over leg and breast for dinner tonight with the M&S roasties and M&S apple crumble for dessert. The cat has already had two bowls of the yukky bits I picked off the bones. And I know most of you would have made a casserole and then down into a soup to feed a family of four out of those bits for the next umpteen days
and I wish I could be like that too, but we just don't 'do' soup in this house, so for me, it's MS to feed it to the cat in lieu of catfood.
The BM is on, clunking away in the kitchen and I have the WM on too. Shall collect the washing off the airer shortly as it was drying last night and the next lot will have to go on it.
Anyway - to everyone who is poorly
- get well soon. I hope today is the very best it can be for you. With love, light and
to all.

Morning MSD & all who follow.
Blow Tris a kiss from me if he logs on.
Off to work soon for me we're still 2 or 3 staff members short so it will be busy, but at least we no longer have the bully to contend with.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all,
Been so hot today. I suppose it is the season but still it doesn't have to be so uncomfortable. Did some baking this morning and tackled Mt Ironing. Then a cooling shower. I've been writing a list this arv. Gives you that nice rosy feeling that you've done something but not quite.I've already got tea sorted so that's done. Off to water the garden shortly. Bingo tonight. It's getting that time again when the jackpot is doable.
My Christmas shopping is pretty much sorted now. I even wrapped them today. :rotfl: Can't have Ruby pipping me at the post.Think we've only got 2 months till our holiday now & I know with Christmas in between it's going to fly. I've earmarked this week to sort out a loose itinerary. Well hope you all have a great day & <hugs> to those that need them. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning everyone. We are getting battered by winds and rain again down this way. Looks like much the same all week on and off. Force 7 at present.
Work this morning after I drop the car off at the garage to get the brake pipe fixed and then pass the MOT. What with the tax too, it's an expensive month.
Had great pork steaks for tea with sherried mushrooms, delicious. All the better as the steaks were a sliced loin joint I got reduced in ASDA.
Recipe here if you fancy it. I made extra gravy using some flour and milk.
Packed lunches await. let chickens out..... muddy dog etc.... Cheers and have a nice dayNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
I feel really silly for asking this, but what does NSD mean? Is there a page which explains what all these things mean? I like to lurk here but keep getting confused about what things mean!Dogs and Cats are better than kids because they eat less, don't ask for money... and if they get pregnant, you can sell their children!0

Morning!
Very windy here too overnight but it seems to have stopped now although it's still raining. Only DS3 & I up at the moment so we're enjoying the peace
Washing machine has been on twice and dishwasher is empty again. Our gammon last night was lovely, really moist - and there's plenty for tonights potato bake. It's a recipe I found on the GC thread, sliced potatoes, ham bits & veggies in a casserole with a cheese sauce. I need to make & freeze a couple of soups for lunches as well.
I'm going into town this morning to get MIL some fluffy socks as she can't get her slippers on any more (swollen feet) and feels embarassed by her feet until the choropodist comes to sort them on the 1st of the month. It's lovely to have her so nearby now after so long in hospital (6 months). DD & DS2 went up last night for half an hour to see her as well as DH, DS3 & I in the morning.
Diva Good to see youto all who need one & have a good day.

Hello and welcome, I think it means 'No Spend day' there is a page somewhere whith all the codes on, but I'm not very good at finding these things
I feel a need to wrap my presents today, just to keep up with Aussie, its my dd's Birthday on Saturday, and OH next week, so i have better wrap those at least.
Also need to sort out the final bits of paperwork re the new house, and get those posted back. Do the usual cleaning and washing, and an online shop.
Dinner tonight will be something with the leftover chicken from yesterday, I have a real struggle saving anything, as if he could my oh would have 1/2 a chicken with his meal he loves meat, so I have to hide the leftovers
N9eav, that recipe looks great, have kept it for future reference.
Weather is terrible here, gale force winds, and more rain, which will continue untill Wednesday,
Have good days all xx0 -

Good Morning All
Its Monday again urghhh and its raining just for a change.
Just about to make packed lunches, get dressed then get my head down in the office on my mountain of paperwork. Have loads of horrible stuff to get through today.
Have Tesco delivery coming at lunchtime, its chicken curry with leftover chicken for dinner - so nice again not to have to think about what is for dinner.
DS has a cold and looks like he has conjunctivitus (sp) have just given him some medicine and if he still looks bad in half an hour he wont be going to school again. He has not ben 100% since he had the flu.
OH not in a good mood today, is off to work tonight and tomorrow morning to tell our drivers they are on a 4 day week from next week, we have tried to avoid it but as our client has announced they are (for the first time) going to have a 2 week shut down over Xmas there is no way we will get through January if we dont do it. Horrible though and OH is dreading it and I dont blame him.
Oh well best get on - need to find a very big bit of paper to write my to do list!
Have a good day.x0 -
Morning all
Monday morning already, where do the weekends go? Went away Saturday morning just for 1 night whilst the children were looked after by my parents, everything went a bit pear-shaped as my dad is going for an angi-gram (?sp) in December, but he was unwell on Saturday night and was taken to hospital but discharged. He had lost the use of one arm and mum thought he had possibly had a stroke, he hasn't had a stroke but he's really not well at all, so we came back early yesterday morning. Myself and my brother and sisters have tried to talk mum into seeing if the appointment can be brought forward because as he is at the moment I'm not sure he will even get to the appointment date.
Anyway that's enough of my worries, had a nice 3 course dinner provided at the do we went to, as we were away no OS really achieved over the weekend, so back to it this week! Won quite a nice teddy on the raffle Saturday night so that will make a nice raffle prize for our New Year rally, and won't cost me anything to put in!
Have a good day everyone, keep safe and well, hugs to those that need them.

Good morning everybody
I don't often post here but thought to come and say hi since I am unusually early at the computer, ranting because the (work) page I needed is not loading GRRRRR
Got to go to a work meeting, what a palaver, in the rain, on the other side of London, but thought that dipping quickly into the warm calm waters of OS would make me feel good. And it worked!
Have a great day everybody! xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
